In short order, Wild East has become a top brewery in the city, and really, New York State. I have rarely had the opportunity to sit inside since the opening, but the outdoor seating is properly spaced and ventilated.
Last Sunday I was treated to a draft menu of well over a dozen, ranging from the necessary IPAs of various stripes, to fruited sour beer, to several English-style ales, farmhouse beers... the mind boggles at the breadth of styles. And as with each of my forays to Wild East, the beer was spot-on, clean, and flavorful. I'd like to shout out their dark lager, Fervor & Defiance, in the hopes that they continue to brew it long after this mini-trend fades: perfect match of roast with softer malts, a light touch with the hops, and a technical marvel, under 5% abv. Just a classic. The variety of English bitters and the outstanding Mild should be sought out as well if that's your scene. Even the hazy IPAs, not my favorite style, come clean and with hop recipes that harmonize.
Takeaway cans (or drink them there, I suppose) are reasonably priced and a fine way to support your local brewery, just sayin'. The West Coast IPA was a standout from last weekend, so if you're a fan of clear, bitter beer, that's a big recommend.
Service has been great each visit, even with the added work of tending to outside patrons with inside taps. I appreciate that one only needs to buy a bag of chips as a dining option. With several other breweries nearby, there's a full day of NYC craft beer sampling an easy subway ride away. I can see that evenings in the winter will be a challenge for patrons, but bundle up and enjoy the...
Read moreWe threw a February wedding at Wild East on a Sunday, with a guest count of 115, and it was absolutely perfect. Wild East has some of the best beers in Brooklyn, with consistent quality across styles, so there’s something for everyone. The space itself has the right balance of existing ambiance and opportunity to infuse your own aesthetic.
The events coordinator Casey and owner Tyler were very accommodating when it came to decorating in the space, allowing for our friends to hang a backdrop for the ceremony and decorate the bar and tables with fresh flowers, foraged pieces, and candles. The bartenders were super respectful and upbeat, working cheerfully all night long. Casey was kind, really chill, and open to ideas throughout the process; she even gave us a couple of four-packs when we came the next day to load our final boxes and cake out, which was a really sweet gesture. Casey really helped make our wedding day everything we wanted it to be, and we’re so grateful for all her coordination.
Overall, the experience was exactly what we hoped for, the Wild East team let us run with our ideas, and we were thrilled that our family and out of town friends had easy accommodations and train options nearby. Plus, they have two super cute brewery cats who oversaw the...
Read moreTHIS PLACE IS OPEN FOR BUSINESS, as I found out yesterday when I purchased two crowlers for takeaway (yes, it's super easy to order online!). I had the fortunate pleasure of chatting with the three co-owners and taking home some delicious beers. The pilsner is meticulously crafted and among the best I've tasted outside Munich. The coincidentally named dark lager, Inverted World, is rich and layered while still being very drinkable. I've tasted several other beers and am huge fan because the perfectionist approach to recipe design and distinct profile of each beer, which has been lost in the era of BIG IPAs. Additionally, the typical ABV of their beers enables me to have several pints before getting dizzied up. Keep up the good work and hold tight in this environment! I am looking forward to the GRAND...
