Alright, for a free Parkour park, this isn't bad, and there's a lot of space and creativity to work with. It's also great if you're looking to do basic, general calisthenics. I've always been able to get a lot of great workout and parkour sessions here. Also, since it's right under the highway there's plenty of shade if you're trying to avoid direct sunlight during the summer/hot days. It also makes it easier to work during the rain. It also helps that the bars won't be beaming during the summer. Being right back to the Hudson river and along the riverside/Empire State Trail is a major bonus.
You're probably wondering why I only gave this spot 3 stars then. Well, these are not major cons but they are things that annoy me a little bit.
This park is right in a parking lot of the Parks and Rec center lot. So sometimes when they bring their trucks through or simply parking, a lot of dust can pick up and blow in the midst.
During the warm months and during the mornings or afternoons, there tend to be lots of little kids here sometimes. Which can be really annoying and makes it hard to get some work in. So try to figure out a time that's best to go here. I usually go after 3pm.
Otherwise, this parkour/calisthenics spot is one of the more unique set ups...
Read moreThey say the park is geared for teens but the place is surrounded by babies. There isnt any signs specifying the age limit or its uses. No one cleans the park let alone maintains it. Will be a huge issue in the Riverside community. Its so lame we get kicked out of spaces because kids and now that we have a space solely dedicated to Parkour, its flooded with the same people that didnt want us at those spaces in the first place. Lots of non parkour people litter the place and have no disregard for...
Read moreIt’s a good park. Free parkour classes are held here every Friday night at 7pm. Despite it being a public park there may be organizations using it for there summer camp or classes but that doesn’t give them full authority over it. Same goes for the upper white side parents that do birthday parties here and use the obstacles as tables. It’s a free open public use park. If you’re in my way I don’t care but I’m also not going to stop my own training especially if you don’t have a permit to say you...
