I had a hard time deciding how to write this review. This is a very nice hotel, but one at which I didn't have a particularly great stay.
I requested an accessible room, due to a learned fear of falling in hotel showers, and two recent hip replacements. I was put in a room on the first floor (which only has a few guest rooms). It was the noisiest 4 nights I've ever spent in a hotel. Honestly, they should not have any guest rooms in that hall. The lounge has live music, and it's busy, so of course you hear that, but the real problem was the employee use of that hall. Some of the rooms the employees use have doors that slam extremely loudly. The guest room doors are thin, so those slams sound like they right are in your room. They slam and slam and slam, and they're not done slamming until after 1:00 a.m. Plus, you can hear every word the staff is saying in the hall (and they're out there very late at night). You can even hear dishes, carts, and who knows what all going by. On my last night, I asked the front desk twice during the day to see if they could stop the slamming. They were quite concerned. Once the slamming started again that night (9:00) I called the front desk. The slamming was a little better that night, but there was still plenty of loud conversation.
Okay, so that said, let me list the good things about the hotel: Very clean. Daily housekeeping. Attractive, but small room (I had a "superior 2 queen bed room"). Excellent happy hour in the very sweet lounge. Comfortable bed. Everything worked in the room - plumbing, hot water, thermostat. Very thoughtful amenities - they even had an umbrella in the closet, as well as robes, slippers, and spare blanket. Didn't nickel and dime me - no resort fee, bottled water was free, etc. Front desk kindly accepted an Amazon package for me. Good location (I was there primarily for opera), with good restaurants (do not miss Sala Thai and Felice 71- Columbus), Andy's Deli, Bagels & Company, and of course Zabar's in the neighborhood. Lots of towels, shampoo, conditioner, body wash, etc., in the bathroom. Safe in the room. I heard rumors (after I left) that the hotel has a fitness room and a rooftop lounge, but no one mentioned those to me.
Here are the (few) not so good things: No morning coffee in the lobby. (This is such a small thing, but I really hate having to get all dressed and walk someplace to get coffee first thing in the morning. I want to relax in my room with coffee, then head out to breakfast when I'm ready.) The in-room coffee machine was a Nespresso; personally, I'm not happy with a little cup of lukewarm, watery espresso, but that's just me. No fitted sheets, so your bed is chaos in the morning. (Although the sheets were very nice quality.)
I would definitely stay there again, but I'd ask for a higher floor for sure. This would have been a 5 star review, but I knocked off a star for noise...
Read moreTruly a lovely stay as I sincerely cannot say enough wonderful things about my time at this elegant boutique hotel.I travel quite often and rarely write reviews because I do not like to leave bad ones. It was an absolute pleasure to leave this review. I loved the UWS location....I'm very fond of this area of the city and think it is one of the best spots to stay. The 76th street location is quiet and the area is chic and sophisticated. Traveled for a one week stay to visit my family and celebrate my birthday, and upon arrival was upgraded to a deluxe queen suite--very swanky. Thank you front desk..you were very gracious and kind. The room was huge and very chic. The living room with fireplace was classy and elegant....decorated very well. The room was huge by NYC standards. What I noticed upon arrival to the hotel and to my room was how wonderful the place smelled. Lighting and HVAC were great and easy to operate. Best part was the electronic shades....you just hit the lights out button and everything goes dark...Loved it! The bedroom was superb and the view was outstanding....reveled in how soft the bed and bedding were and how modern and large the bathroom was. Shower was incredible, a nice touch to ending a busy NYC day. Safe was convenient as were the electrical outlets being everywhere. My room was always cleaned spotless and housekeeping was very attentive. Please tip them as they work very hard. No restaurant or room service but who needs it....you're in NYC go out and enjoy the city. My room had a fridge, microwave, and bar sink...all very clean and useful. Espresso machine with coffee and tea was very nice. The closet was great as was the wardrobe rack in the bedroom...asked for more hangers and in 5 min they were delivered. Loved the room being a corner suite as the light was amazing, especially during the golden hours of the city...12th floor had wonderful views. Best part was the jazz bar downstairs...it was very toney.....just that quintessential NYC lounge atmosphere. Drinks and bar menu were great.....and ohhhhh how I loved the gas fireplace in the lounge. Lots of good energy from all the staff!! Gracias!! Staff was AMAZING!! Absolutely loved this boutique hotel and cannot wait to return!!! A 5 star property....understated and elegant with a 5 star staff. An exceptional property as the word marvelous comes to mind!! Thank you again...

From the moment they arrived, the staff was incredibly welcoming and attentive. The room was immaculate, beautifully decorated, and provided all the amenities they could have asked for. The location was perfect for exploring New York City, and they appreciated the quiet and comfort of the hotel after a busy day.
One highlight of their stay was the outstanding service provided by the staff. They went above and beyond to ensure my parents' comfort and satisfaction, making their stay truly memorable.
I would like to give a special thanks to Kira Santiago, the Assistant Director of Rooms, for her genuine care in ensuring my parents had the perfect stay. Kira's attention to detail and warm hospitality made a significant difference. She took the time to understand their needs and went out of her way to accommodate them. Whether it was arranging special amenities in their room or providing personalized recommendations for local attractions, Kira's efforts were truly appreciated.
Additionally, I want to acknowledge doormen Jaysean and Juan for their exceptional assistance and friendliness. Their warm greetings and helpfulness made my parents feel welcome every time they entered or left the hotel. They always had a smile on their faces and were ready to assist with anything my parents needed, from carrying luggage to providing directions.
I highly recommend The Wallace Hotel to anyone visiting the city and suggest stopping by the Wallace Lounge for live music and lovely cocktails. It’s a perfect way to unwind after a day of exploring.
