We stayed here for 3 weeks . . . and no regrets whatsoever. Everybody at this hotel made us feel so welcome and nothing was too much trouble for them.||This hotel has an excellent location - close to subway (direct line to Times Square, Columbus Circle, Brooklyn etc) Riverside Park and Hudson: a wonderful, peaceful retreat after busy days. The neighbourhood is pretty upmarket and very safe.||The front desk staff were the best (thank you Josh, Will, Jonathan and Nury) as were Maria (who kept us supplied with clean towels, etc and did our room) and Alfonsa (sorry: unsure of spelling) who is the sunniest and smiliest general-jobs person I have ever met.||Our room (2 female friends) was a very good size (plenty of space - no tripping over each other) and the facilities, though a little shabby (?chic) were just what we wanted (separate shower/toilet/wash basin; microwave and tea/coffee making equipment, fridge). We did a mixture of self-catering and eating out - ideal combination.||The building itself is beautiful; the entrance foyer spacious, with lovely decor. There are two elevators which meant very little wait time for lifts up or down. The room was a bit dated - I called it shabby-chic (!) - but charming. We were at the back of the building so no great views but no noise interference, either (e.g. blaring emergency-vehicle sirens). I slept like a log every night (comfortable beds).||I highly recommend The Imperial Court Hotel to all. Our experience was...
Read moreWe arrived a little after midnight and was given a small room when we had requested a twin room. We booked through Expedia (never again). There was not enough room for a rollaway bed. Carpet stains and small. Next room was better but door card not working. Moved again next morning to better room which was clean and double beds. ||Problem 1 - We had paid through expedia for 7 nights. The hotel when charged 5 separate amounts in our credit card amounting to over $2000. The receptionist advised that it was only pending transaction that we should contact our bank. She was rude and gave lots of attitude and refused to let us speak to manager. This was Saturday and Manager was not available until Monday. After several frustrating calls back home to Australia whatever the hotel did the money was back into account. We had only authorised them to take out $200 bond not over $2000.||Problem 2 - We asked them to organise a cab at 3;30am in the morning as we had an early start for a tour to Niagara Falls. When we went down there no cab had been organised and we had to run up to the next street to flag down a cab.||||All reception staff seem to pass any problems onto the next staff members and plead dumb when they are asked to help.||||The location for the hotel is great. The female receptionist needs to be sacked and all the airconditioners needs to be replaced as they sound like...
Read moreHaving read some of the reviews, I was a little nervous as to what to expect. Apart from the decor being a little dated (but does that really matter when you're just needing a place to sleep?) the hotel was clean and comfortable. There were 4 of us in the room and there was adequate space for all our luggage and lots of cupboard space, the bathroom was a good size and very clean and somewhat modern. The beds were very comfortable and having a little kitchenette was very handy! Our room was cleaned and refreshed everyday. The two male receptionists were extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable. The hotel was a short walk from Central Park which made morning runs so convenient. Area felt very safe and we were able to walk to most tourist places we visited. The subway was really close too. A 24 hour market/grocer with good food was very local, as well as highly recommended cafes and restaurants! There was a laundromat just up the road that was cheap as chips which meant we came home with clean laundry! This hotel was perfect for our stay! Highly recommended! Great...
