Let me first say, I am not sure if this is the business that covers all of her services but this is the business associated with the wigmaker on their social media account. If I need to move this review elsewhere, please let me know.
Unfortunately, I had a negative experience with the product delivered by the owner. The wig delivered was not shaped and appeared to be a rush job. First, the wig was delivered later than the agreed time frame. Once I checked in after not hearing from the owner, she mentioned "Oh I was just going to text you" and she mentioned she was delayed. This should have been my first sign. She sent pictured of the wig beforehand, but the wig she delivered looked different. Upon receiving the custom wig she made with hair I provided, I notice it was misshaped and had a huge hump near the part area which created an awkward look. I brought the wig to my stylist in the city I live in and she also was surprised to see a custom made wig look so bad. She even said she would try the best she could with the time we have and that I could bring it in during another appointment for her to continue to fix the wig. I couldn't wear the wig alone really, I had to wear hats or scarves over it. Second, there were also inconsistencies with how she handled tendering the invoice and sharing the accurate cost of making a custom wig after I shared my concerns. It intuitively felt misleading.
The reality is, no business or person is perfect. People have bad days and may be rushed in doing the work. I think we can all understand that. What I can't understand is the lack of empathy displayed by the owner, her saying she "considered my order closed" after telling her about the issues of the wig. She didn't ask any questions. Instead, her initial and immediate response was to shut me down at every turn and refused to even ask questions about the experience of the wig or make recommendations on what I could do to remedy the wig.
The only reason I pursued her business is because I was referred by someone I respect; never did I imagine that I would experience such disrespect and belittling as it relates to a product I asked her to make.
At best, she was rushed in the process of creating the custom wig and did not take ownership of the mistakes made. At worst, this company does not care about its customers and is only driven by revenue. If she would've handled this matter differently from the beginning, I would not be here. Money comes and goes, how you treat people, the experience you have with them, and your response to them sharing their concerns for a product you made is remembered and lasting.
Updated: Upon further review and investigation, this establishment belongs to the same owner that held itself out as the wigmaker on their Instagram page. After I posted my review, they delisted their instagram page (or blocked me). This deception is quite unfortunate. I hope you, or anyone else, is never on the receiving end of this kind...
Read moreI hate that I have to write this review, but nonetheless I feel as though it is important for me to share my experience. I was searching for a black-owned nail salon here in the Bronx and I came upon Le Nailtique Noire. It had awesome reviews and from the pictures available it looked like a great place. I got two hard gel manicures here and I was left disappointed. About three weeks had passed from my first appointment, to my last appointment (today), and my nails were in rough shape. On about 6 fingers, the hard gel was lifting, and on the right thumb the gel was almost off. Instead of filing off those areas that have lifted and reapplying the hard gel polish to the exposed nail, the nail tech poorly applied super glue to the perimeter of the outgrown gel. Not only was this ineffective, it is dangerous because it traps the water, moisture, and bacteria that has managed to get into the pocket between the gel polish and the nail, and can lead to serious nail infections. Needless to say, using superglue was a cheap "alternative" to properly fixing any lifting nails. In all my years of getting my nails done, I have never and I mean NEVER had a nail tech do something as lazy as this. Additionally communication was very poor on her end. When she filed my nails she did not ask me if I was okay with the shape, or the length. When I requested a forrest green polish, I was NOT given an option of greens to choose from. Instead she chose a Kelly green, which is pretty, but not what I asked for. To top it off, she forgot to apply topcoat to my right thumb, which was left looking matte and unfinished. It goes without saying that I was very disappointed with this manicure and will not be returning. When a nail tech cannot be bothered to properly fix a lifting nail, it is usually a sign to run. On my way home, I made an appointment with another nail salon to fix this poorly done manicure. Attached to this review are pictures that I took immediately after the appointment. The white patches on my nails are the areas where the gel has lifted...
Read moreMy experience was nothing short of amazing especially for this to be 2 months of their opening. Great customer service, chic, and pleasant. It is also evident to be a hygienic nail salon, packages are opened in front of you, foot scrubbers are thrown out and aren't reused on other clients. I was greeted and thanked for my arrival (on time) plus accommodated last minute which was a plus. I was given a complimentary glass of mimosa but was provided options of different beverages. The energy and vibe exuded positivity, and relaxation. It made me feel like I was home with my girls having spa day vs feeling like I'm apart of an assembly line and being provide rushed work. Mrs.T took her time and was meticulous with the service provided which made the experience that much more relaxing. The decor and set up is supurb (kisses fingers) which gives it a modern chic, classy feel to the environment. Its not a janky, traditional looking NYC nail salon, unsanitary location with horrible customer service. Its a location where you will feel comfortable in all elements to be in. Might I add the owner is a melanated sister so that makes it all the better and heart warming to see and experience. I extremely recommend to book a service. The salon is Spa like with services to match, you will not and can't be disappointed unless you're just a miserable, bored, overly critical, "negative nancy" with nothing nice to say. I also was exposed to a product they exclusively carry in Harlem, Dazzle Dry coined as DazzMani or Pedi Noire which was pretty cool. It literally dries in 5 minutes and dries like Gel. I was sold... can you tell by this review bc I really am. I will be sure to be back and become a regular. Thanks to the amazing experience Lé...
