Sweet Chef — Restaurant in New York

So far i have to give it 5 stars. It's a hidden little place. I only found it because I was going to Hogshead Tavern which is right next door. So, I saw this place which looked like a nice little bakery and stopped in. They don't have a huge assortment of different pastries. It seemed to be just cookies and pies, but they do have a good selection of those things. We got 4 cookie for $5. We got a german, chocolate, a peanut butter chocolate chip, a lemon coconut, and a coconut chocolate chip. Jackie was one of the chef's that came out to help us make our selections. He was super nice and the cookies were awesome. I have not known of any other bakeries and wouldn't have known of this one without stumbling upon it. We will be back for sure. Sincerest advice: stick to pies! I gladly stood in line for sweet potato and pumpkin pies for a Friendsgiving celebration. Everyone loved them! They were flavorful and the crust was nicely browned.

Fast forward a couple of year and I stopped in on a whim to try the banana pudding, bread pudding and peach cobbler. All were uniformly bad. Each was watery and runny like filling was just dumped into a dish with barely any thought. I ended up tossing half of each them.

I’d still buy the pies and have actually found the folks who work there very nice. I’m curious about quality vs scale though.

Don't go on a Saturday @ 10am..like I did, cause apparently they do not open at 10 . Came all the way from LIC for two bean pies, I will never do it again because they are not consistent. After leaving and coming back @12 a lady finally shows up, this is when I was told that they open at 12:00 not 10:00 like the website says. Well I came for two bean pies unfortunately for me and I guess fortunately for them the guy was at a festival so he took all the pies left zero for the store for opening She says the guy told her to make some more today for the store Why would you take all the pies and not leave at least five for when the store opens for when people come in I will never come back I don't care how...
