The Century Tower in Riverdale is what happens when you put glitter on shit. The first couple of years, aside from the thin walls and a noisy-ish neighbor, were great. Never saw a mouse or even a roach. Only had two cockroaches the entire time I’ve lived there. But I think the building had better management too back then. Sad that they replaced the former Property Manager Victor because it’s been downhill ever since. Saw my first roach in that apartment this year and here I was thinking that would be the worst of my concerns. After living there for nearly 5 years, I can no longer stay for the remaining 4.5 months of my two-year lease due to a mice infestation that happened suddenly about a month ago and quickly spiraled out of control in a matter of days. So now I’m having to live with my family until the lease ends. Other tenants had warned me about their experiences with roaches and mice, but by that time, I had already signed the two-year lease. Hampton Management Co. and Tonel (Property Manager at the Century) don’t want to let me out of my lease and have not been helpful in letting me know what has to happen in order for me to be let out of my lease. Imagine a mice infestation in a studio apartment. It’s horrific. Yes, an exterminator came twice. And yes SOME of the holes were sealed. But this is a bandaid solution to a bigger issue. And every time I return to the apartment to pick up some of my belongings, I find more mouse droppings. The entire building needs to be swept, but I doubt that will happen. The mice are even coming out during the day. I can’t even work from home if I wanted to because they’ve made a home on the top shelf of my desk. Until the building is under new management, I would strongly advise against renting here. If you’ve yet to experience roaches and mice, I’ll tell you all just like another tenant told me, “JUST...

I have been here for four years and have seen the rapid decay in quality each year. The first of many issues is the infestation of rats and roaches in tenant apartments. As per other tenants and the employees of the building, there is a known tenant with an infestation problem on the 20th floor that management claims they are "working on". The infestation is so bad that you will find them entering your apartment, no matter what lengths you take to keep it clean. When you mention it to management, you are told to put your name on a sign-up sheet for a contractor exterminator; which doesn't improve the situation at all.
Second issue, the walls are incredibly thin. Tenants do not care about the noise rule that is written in the contract and because there is no punishment put onto them at all; they blast music or party until 4 am. During the holiday season or during the weekend (when they know there is a skeleton crew), is the most common time for this issue to come up.
Third issue - there is absolutely NO VETTING of the tenants at all. This building is supposed to be "luxury" but they allow section 8 tenants. Now, not every section 8 person is bad, but the most that are allowed in this building clearly take advantage and violate the rules.
Fourth issue: Brown water. You will find that while you are taking a shower or cooking; brown spurts or in some other cases; a continuous stream of brown water comes out the faucet. As per management, the water is completely safe to drink. However, when presented with the option to drink from it; they refuse.
If you truly value anything about yourself, you won't come here at all. The amount of money you will spend is...

Management doesn’t move too urgently with your request.
Doormen, except one, do not pay attention to who comes in and out the building because they are always out their seat. I’ve had packages delivered to the mailbox area and get stolen as they are suppose to go to concierge downstairs.
Washer and dryers break every day.
Dog owners who don’t clean up after their dogs. There’s literally dog poop around the entire block.
Walls are paper thin and you can literally hear someone’s alarm clock waking you up!
There’s huge amounts of pest in the apartments from roaches and mice. While they offer weekly pest control, it only applies to the kitchen and bathroom which is not taking care of the entire issue. They even asked for extra money to apply treatment in other areas.
Also, it’s a mixed demographic so there’s always some form of loitering in the halls.
Do not recommend to anyone… absolutely nightmare. Also the pic I’ve included is water mold that they said...
