I'm grateful to the parks department for their efforts to preserve this little piece of land that could easily have been concreted over or sanitized and made to look like any of the other parks in the area. Whilst it's a conservation site, and they probably had no choice, I'm still grateful for this new addition to amazing variety of parkland we have here in Inwood.
I'm sure there are people who will be underwhelmed by how small this park is, and others who won't like the way it looks, but personally I love how wild this section feels, despite its size, and can't help but think that there are some birds and insects that are better suited to it than anything else in the surrounding area. I also like how calm it feels, and the view of the creek and the bridge are pretty much the signature picture postcard of the neighborhood.
You owe it to yourself to try it out - come and sit on a bench, breathe in and out, let the (hopefully) petty troubles of your day drain away, and just soak up how grounding the whole...
