A Touch Of Sun Hair & Spa — Local services in New York

The people here were really nice but they don't know how to work with curly hair, it's sad to say because I've never written a bad review before but my main issue is that the first thing I really stressed about when calling this salon Is i asked them very specifically what I wanted and If they were able to work in my hair type... I have very voluminous spiral curls which for some people may be hard to manage and for others not so much, so I came in for blonde highlights using the olaplex treatment that they have. (I had brown hair) if they knew they couldn't work on my hair type I'm just not sure why they would say they can. First thing When I walk in everyone looks at my hair as if I'm from another planet (it's very voluminous which is why it looks hard to work with I guess but it's never been an issue, I'm domincan/ puertorican) they also said to me "you can walk in and we will look and see what we could do" when I got their they said it could be done but now I've never seen my hair this horrible In my life. I washed it after a few days because they blew it out and none of my curls curl now my entire head is thin my hair is falling out and Which is a nightmare because I'm a about to be in college and I don't have a high paying job at this age. It's annoying to do my reaserch to make sure It's money well spent for what I wanted and was for nothing because my hair is completely ruined and there's hardly anything I can do about it. I always take care of my hair and keep it in the best condition possible, I've never seen it in worse condition also I have previsouly had my hair blonde in the past and my hair did not turn out this way I guess the rest was good if you don't have my hair type..but if you can't do the job then don't say so. Because now I'm stuck with completely damaged thin frizzy stringy hair that's falling off and doesn't curl anymore. Price was great especially for the service I was getting and my hair. Everyone was so sweet! & The coffee bar was delicious and along with treats. I went in for a curly perm, my hair was straight and now it’s beyond my expectations. I am in love and happy with the results. I will indeed be returning for more services. The entire process was peaceful, relaxing, and clean. Entire process of my hair was extremely peaceful, clean, painless and fast especially for the length and amount of hair I have. Loved my experience at A Touch of Sun and would return in a heartbeat. Receptionist was super friendly and helpful while booking over the phone.

When I arrived I was greeted and my wonderful stylist Suzanne took excellent care of me. They have water and an espresso/coffee machine if you need it (I didn’t). We talked about what I was looking for and the owner also came by to assure my stylist of any concerns.

It’s always a little leap of faith when trying a new salon, but I couldn’t have been happier with how my hair turned out. The color was beautiful and just what I wanted. The (long overdue) haircut was great, leaving my hair looking healthy after a great blow dry as well.

I also loved that Suzanne listened to what I was looking to do with my hair and we worked together to get there. I hope she stays there a long time because she really was excellent. Happy to have found this gem of...
