I'm not the type to leave bad reviews unless I feel Iike it is absolutely deserving. I had my engagement shoot scheduled for the previous Friday. Two weeks before that, my fiance and I went in to Ulta to speak with the makeup artist to schedule my hair and makeup appointment for the engagement shoot. The lady took all the necessary information, and I saw her input it into the computer. I never received the reminder text I was supposed to receive, so I called on the day before my shoot to check on my appointment only to find out that I was not, in fact, on the schedule. I had argued with the person over the phone that I needed my appointment. They managed to "squeeze me in" at 12:30. That should have been my first warning. When I went in for the appointment, everything went well with the hair portion but went terribly wrong with the makeup part. The lady doing my makeup never applied any form of primer, even though I asked about it, and she knew my makeup needed to last all day since my shoot was at 6 pm up in Beacon, NY. She only applied eye shadow (which did not look like the picture inspo that I provided), foundation, a little bit of "contour," mascara, and eyeliner. She never gave me a hand mirror to look closely at the makeup. I realize that I should have looked closer or requested one so I could see how horrible it looked, unfortunately I was in a rush to leave (since it was already 2 pm by the time the appointment finished) so we could grab our things and start driving up to Beacon, NY, during rush hour. I didn't get to look closely at my makeup until after I paid and tipped the lady. Just before I left, I looked in a small mirror to see that my makeup was done incredibly poorly. I've attached pictures so you can see what I'm talking about. The foundation looked so caked on that you could see every crease and wrinkle on my face. Also, my eye liner looked like a 5 year old drew it on. I wanted to go back and argue with the makeup artist, but I really didn't have any time to spare. If we didn't leave immediately, we would lose our appointment with the photographer and lose the money we spent on him. I was forced to rush home to wash my face and completely redo my makeup myself on the car ride to the engagement shoot location so I could look halfway decent for the pictures. Altogether, this was a horrible experience, and I will never use Ulta's beauty...
Read morethe absolute worst ulta i have ever experienced. The workers follow anyone who looks remotely young around by their tail, harrass you if you have been in the store longer than they like, and have no knowledge of products. All these stories took place on seperate occasions. My friend asked if they had an brow gel in the bigger size, she insisted they did not come in full size. after two seconds of looking I found the full size. Maybe I deserve that worker’s day worth of pay since she can barely do her one job. I online ordered two small items at 1pm. I come in to the store at 3:30pm, and say i have an order for pick up. The worker (same one) says I have to wait for a confirmation email and i can go wait IN THE PARKING LOT for another hour while they “prepare” it. (put it aMin a bag). I walked around the store and the worker, who i assume is a manager, sighed and sent another worker to fill the order. My friend and I were looking at the curling irons, and a worker rushed over and told us those are not toys and not to touch them. Aren’t they displayed for a reason? I opened a already open bottle of nail polish, as all the other bottles are because as hostile as these workers are they still cant keep products from being open, and the worker said those are not testers. I said sorry, and put it back. She continued to lecture me (same worker as before) about how those are not samples and i cant open them. I already put it away why are you still talking to me? my friend got a nose bleed while in the store, i open my bag to offer tissues, a worker rushes over to REMOVE US from the store claiming we cannot be in there anymore and we are treaspassing. Me and a group of friends are looking around the store, all in different areas. We all plan on buying stuff. A worker walks up to us and starts asking us about our thanksgiving break, what were buying, what were waiting for, like if you want me to leave just tell me that. Don’t try to make me. uncomfortable so i’ll go. Me and my friends are loyal customers of this store, buying something atleast once every 2 weeks, and still get treated like this. Its all the current workers, and if your reading this still you know who i’m talking about. Do not...
Read moreI recently visited the Ulta Beauty on Hylan Boulevard to pick up an online order, and I have to say, the experience was fantastic from start to finish. The difference between this location and the Staten Island Mall store is like night and day. At the Staten Island Mall, I’ve encountered rude and dismissive staff who hardly acknowledge customers, and it feels like they don’t want to be there. But at the Hylan Boulevard location, it was the complete opposite. The moment I walked in, I was warmly greeted by a friendly staff member who made me feel welcome right away.
Picking up my order was seamless, and the workers here were not only efficient but also genuinely polite. They asked if I needed help with anything else and even offered some great product suggestions based on my previous purchases. What stood out to me was their willingness to go the extra mile without making me feel rushed or like I was just another customer. It’s rare to find such great customer service these days, especially in larger retail stores.
The atmosphere at this Ulta is so much more relaxed, and you can tell the employees actually enjoy what they do, which makes a huge difference in the shopping experience. I also noticed that the store was very clean, well-organized, and easy to navigate, which only added to the positive experience.
In contrast, I’ve had quite a few negative experiences at the Staten Island Mall location, where the staff seem uninterested and sometimes outright rude. That’s why I’ll definitely be making the Hylan Boulevard store my go-to Ulta from now on. The customer service here is top-notch, and it makes all the difference. Highly recommend this location to anyone looking for a more pleasant and helpful...
