Washington Cemetery — Local services in New York

I went to this resting place to pay my respects to some long passed-away relatives from my family on Sunday of this week. The last time someone from my family was interred there was in the 1920s. The staff there could not have been nicer or more helpful. The locator records that they had were wrong (through no fault of their own) and they tried exceptionally hard to help me find the correct gravesites I was seeking to see. The operators of this Cemetery went way beyond what anyone should reasonably expect -- and I am not a new customer, I am from a family whose last burial there was almost 100 years ago. If you know the word MENSCH -- that is the kind of people who worked there and helped me. I was really moved that they would take their time to do so. Just a warning to you that they close the smaller areas of the cemetery well before the supposed closing time of 3:30pm. I arrived well before 3:30pm but the area with my relatives was already closed. I went to the main building to see if they could help but they refused to open the area I was trying to visit, explaining that their grounds crew went around closing up at various times. The sign on the door is attached which says "smaller gates will close a few minutes earlier" but that means at least 15-20 minutes or more earlier. As I live thousands of miles away I couldn't go back - that was my only chance to visit. I'll try again...
