Last Thursday, I developed some severe right flank pain. No other symptoms. I thought this was due to my personal training sessions earlier in the week, and was just a pulled muscle. However, woke up then next day with significantly worse flank pain. No other symptoms, but it was enough for me to have to stay home from work. By Saturday it was much worse. Went to immediate care at Providence Scholls, to have my urine dipped and better pain medications. I was suspecting a kidney stone. Sent back home with a shot of Toradol, and felt much better. The next morning, pain medications started wearing off, and I would barely move. No position was comfortable. I was in tears. Decided to go to Providence Newberg Medical Center ER, since wait time would likely be less than at Providence St. Vincent’s. I live in Tigard, so Newberg not too far. Newberg ER got me back in a timely manner, and I was thoroughly evaluated by a physician’s assistant I had a CT scan and ultrasound, all of which went smoothly. Rather than my kidney, this turned out to be an angry gall bladder, with a large stone. The ER got my pain under control, and sent me home, with a plan to schedule surgery for a cholecystectomy ASAP. Unfortunately, overnight my pain worsened. Was thankfully able to get in the Dr. Richard Fisher that day and had surgery the following day. The day of surgery went smoothly, from check in all the way to postop. The staff, especially the nursing staff was professional, gentle, and explained every step of the way. Dr. Fisher is very laid back, makes you feel at ease. A huge thank you to him and his OR staff, and to my preop and recovery nurse, Lisa. I highly recommend Providence Newberg. Sometimes the smaller hospitals are perfect for those standard procedures. I am a nurse practitioner and a former ICU nurse. I am truly impressed with how they handled my situation, from ER to OR to...
Read moreI'm having my 4th baby here, the other 3 pregnancies I had care here and it was amazing, (ten years ago) this one has been disappointment after disappointment, from rescheduling to miscommunication. Nothing has went as planned . My ultrasound was terrible they didn't inform me that in 2024 they are still going by covid protocols so when I brought my kids and husband they said they couldn't come in for the ultrasound leaving me to myself. And then to top off my disappointment the printer wasn't working... and when they finally did get it working the 5 pictures ( from a hour ultrasound) were only 3! Actual photos. I'm still waiting for a DVD that I requested. You can't believe how many tears have been shed due to hormones and frustration . I'm unbelievably disappointed, all we get before a baby comes is these ultrasound photos and they just totally made it such a non human, experience , so transactional , it's sad that insurance and money run things now . And that the staff don't even. Have time to slow down and be kind and recognize that a patient is in distress. my husband was there for the 8 week ultrasound which ended up being a 6 week so it was just a little bean... and now he won't be able to see him till he's here . My memory of this experience filled with tears and a horrible feeling in my throat the whole time cause I feel guilty he didn't get to see our newest addition. I'm seriously considering just showing up ready to deliver cause every single in person appointment I have went too has ended with a reschedule and tears at some point of the day . It just sucks . Nurses are gr8 dr is great.... but ultrasound sucked, memories suck, and the shortness of staff is really making this pregnancy hard . Just be human . Look around treat others the way u which u were treated .... very...
Read moreThank-you Providence Newberg Medical Center: Our experience at Providence Newberg Medical Center was truly exceptional. My 101-year-old mom was brought into the ER by TVFR following an apparent cardiac event at our home. The ER staff exhibited remarkable attentiveness and friendliness upon our hurried arrival. The ER staff promptly responded to the situation and treated my mother with utmost respect. The nurses demonstrated sensitivity to the circumstances and interacted with my elderly mom with great care.
The ER physician engaged with us personally, discussing my mom's condition calmly and supportively, ensuring that the available options were clearly understood. Additionally, the hospitalist, Dr. Lee Anthony, took the time to explain my mom's admission process and the potential paths we could take, providing invaluable support and guidance. They were both such great representatives for Providence Medical Center in Newberg.
Both doctors showcased top-notch professionalism and expertise. Once my mom was stabilized, we were transferred to a beautiful room in the Med-Surge Unit where family members could be present. Transitioning to end-of-life comfort care is inherently difficult, but the nursing staff exhibited exceptional consideration and compassion, particularly towards family members bidding farewell to their grandmother. We should recognize our Nurses Kate, Jacob and Melissa for their gentle competent care.
My wife and daughter, who are nurses themselves, found this experience truly extraordinary. Our family is immensely grateful for the exemplary care and support provided by the doctors and nurses during this...
