Karma's Closet Consignment Boutique — Local services in Newington

I went here for the first time yesterday, and it was a wonderful experience. I certainly will be back, and I highly recommend them! Overall vibe: The store was organized well, the music was upbeat and chill, the prices were fantastic, and the owner was friendly and helpful.

I only had about 30min to check it out before picking up my partner from their appointment, but the store was organized so well that I was able to get a full shopping trip in that time.

I am a plus size girlie, and have had the unfortunate experience of digging through a mixed rack with size small and medium to find a large or extra large. Not here - there were individual racks for each size of women's tops, so I was able to locate the right size and feel confident that the whole rack was safe for me to choose from.

The owner and other staff were great. I'm neurodivergent, and an issue I have run in to with other consignment shops or thrift stores in the past is that the staff will just like WATCH YOU the entire time - a neurodivergent no no. At this shop they talked amongst themselves up front, so I didn't feel constantly perceived, and when I did engage with them they were really helpful. That made for such a comfortable experience.

When I got home later last night and went to unload my bag I saw the stamping they did on the bag the clothes came in, and the small bag for the earrings I bought which also had a small thank you sticker on it.

That said, they seem to have a decent selection and my friend found a beautiful shirt when we went.

For me, though, I made it in ten steps before realizing the number and level of scents in the air was hazardous for me, so I waited outside while she browsed, and only went back in to give my opinion on the shirt when she tried it on, and then I waited outside again while she paid.

Just that level of exposure kicked my chemical sensitivities hard, to the point where I couldn't even speak coherently during the ride home. If I'd been driving, I would have had to try to sleep it off in the parking lot or call...
