Shape-Up Health Club — Local services in Newport Beach

We found this gym while visiting California for vacation. We needed a full gym to continue our workouts while away. We visited 3 times. As a gym owner myself I love trying out new gyms. The place has friendly members. We loved that. They also had personal training going on non stop with all their trainers on the floor. I love seeing that too. The bathroom area was very nice complete with a dry sauna, dressing rooms, etc. Good variety of equipment. It can be crowded but I'm use to that. I saw the same trainers on the floor all week. Only one said hello or acknowledged me. They even moved my stuff or worked around me but never said hi. They even seemed annoyed when I was working on something they wanted too. When I am working (at my gym) on the floor I always say hello and make people feel welcome. The gym can be a vulnerable place for people and the trainers are looked at as knowledgable. They should always make people feel welcomed. We also got asked to stop making noise. In the deadlift area. Outside. On the deadlift platform. We dont lift max weight so we are doing multiple reps and reset at the bottom. Its impossible to not make noise. With a bar and weights even if you are setting them down. Apparently the landlord was upstairs in a meeting and the noise was bothering him. For someone who has paid $20 dollars multiple times for a guest pass we should be able to do our workout. A landlord rented to a gym and needs them to not make 'gym noises'...outside? Silly. Noone wants to be charged to workout when they cant do...

Once my old gym stopped opening up on time, I went looking for another. I stumbled across Shape Up and gave it a try. So glad I did. I hired Robert Burns to be my personal trainer. He has changed the way I approach health forever. He has dedicated his entire life to health and fitness. He was an Olympic weight lifter, he sits on the board of numerous health organizations, he gives insightful and interesting seminars on weight training, diet and the importance of sleep all while maintaining a cutting edge knowledge for overall health. I have been a member of SHAPE UP since 2003. I have enjoyed many years at this gym. I think their trainers are invaluable. They educate everyone on the newest exercise techniques and how to use the equipment properly. There is also a great variety of classes. I have gone from doing classes to working with Robert Burns as my personal trainer. Robert has transformed my body & mind. At 55 I was able to lose 30 Lbs and more importantly gain more energy and strength for everything I do. I am really enjoying Living my Best Life.
