It's the only gym in the area within a descent driving distance. If there was another one I would chose that place. Up until recently I had not much bad to say about this place. Pretty nice .. equipment is ok (some is old or broken ) , the downstairs weight room is always filthy ,the Matt's are grose and the t.v on all the olyptical machines are always snowy or cut out ...or sometimes they just don't work and sometimes the equipment won't read your bpms. Parking is conveniant as long as it does not snow. They offer a back parking lot but the 4 spots reserved for "customers only " are always taken permanently by the tenants who live above the gym and the parking lot itself is hardly ever plowed so be prepared to get stuck trying to get to the parking lot and then not have a parking space and then if you do find one ..prepare to step in lots of snow . I later found out when I inquired on the parking situation during snow removal that it's the owners who park there (rightly so ) and they have no control over thier parking lot being plowed . I would have not mentioned anything if the staff member was not so rude about it. A few times I drove all the way to the gym and my key tag would not work due to a glitchy system and a few times I have been late on payments ( they were nice enough to wave the late fee ) I went in to pay and asked that the staff member make sure they take the restriction off my account so I can attend that night ... They do not do this . I drive there and key tag still doesn't work because they forgot. I even started asking .." are you sure it's all set ? Please don't forget to ... " And have thought about standing there until I physically see them do it. Lol. Great shakes though (very expensive ) and the classes I heard are alot of fun and very effective. Overall it's not bad for a local non...
Read moreI've been a member at Newport Fitness and Spa for over a 5 years now, and it's honestly the best gym I've joined since I can remember.
The gym and locker rooms are always spotless and there are plenty of wipes around for the machines (and members actually use them!). The availability of amenities such as a tanning bed, aqua message bed, showers, and changing rooms, adds an extra touch of luxury to the overall experience without the price tag of some of the expensive luxury competitors.
Newport Fitness also has a wide selection of top-notch equipment ranging from strength training to cardio to functional workouts. And while I don't often attend the classes, I did try their beginner boxing class, and it was fantastic.
To me though, what sets Newport Fitness and Spa apart from other gyms is their diverse range of membership options and their staff. They truly understand that everyone's fitness needs and lifestyles are unique. Whether you're looking for a gym-only membership, want to add kinesis boot camp to your routine, or need a special student rate, they have you covered.
The staff at Newport Fitness also deserves a special mention. Every time I walk through the door, I'm greeted with a warm smile and a hello at the front desk. The manager, Bev, goes above and beyond to ensure that members feel valued and supported.
Especially after gyms experienced a rough time during the pandemic, it's amazing to see the way Newport Fitness treats...
Read moreBeverly is great! Wish they would invest in a stair climber and other equipment but they will not as they feel they have a monopoly. I look around and there are burnt out lights everywhere that don’t get readily fixed. Huge disparity is what people pay for memberships from $59.00 per month to $20.00 for the same services. . Their equipment is aging and never updated. On top of that you have high school students using the fitness equipment to check their Email, while you want to get in a work out. Coincidentally they pay less than other members but are always there hogging up all the equipment. I’m currently using the recreational center in Newport for $1.00 per visit. The free weights are the same Other than that a nice small gym. Unfortunately I totally disagree with your posted rebuttal. Your stairclimbers are junk and you don’t invest in your gym as you are a monopoly in town. On top of that you petitioned the town to have limited equipment in the new rec center to stymie...
