I usually shop at the Prudential or Newbury locations, and as an Alo All Access member I’m very familiar with the brand and normally have positive experiences. I recently visited the Chestnut Hill store after signing up for an event and thought this might become my new home location, but unfortunately this visit changed my mind.
I came in to do an exchange, and while waiting for the staff to bring my items, I decided to browse the store. As I walked around, I realized I was being followed. At one point, I stopped in my tracks and the manager had to pivot quickly, making it very obvious that I was being watched. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable and unwelcome.
Despite that, I picked up a pair of shorts. The man who rang me out was very kind and helpful as well as the rest of the staff, but once I got to my car I noticed I had been charged incorrectly. When I went back inside to have it corrected, the staff member handling it was unapologetic, and the manager seemed stiff, as if I was inconveniencing them for pointing out the error. The tag clearly listed one price, but I was charged a higher one. To make matters worse, the manager made a snarky remark along the lines of, “Every dollar counts.”
It’s not about the price.. I’m happy to pay for what I buy but customers should be charged what’s listed and treated with respect when errors happen. The experience was disappointing. I’ll continue shopping with Alo, but I’ll be taking my business back to the Prudential and Newbury locations, where the service has always...
Read moreUnfortunately, I didn't have as great of an experience in this store as other reviewers... I'm an ALO Access member (spent over $2,000 with them), and when I entered the store, a female employee with dark curly hair completely ignored me. I looked right at her face and said "hi!" and then she responded.... I watched her greet every single other customer who entered the store behind me, and she said "Welcome in! Is there anything I can help you with today?" Then, I was looking for a particular item, and no one offered to help me, so I went to the cash register to ask the employee there. She seemed annoyed that I was asking for help. And, the male employee in the fitting room was also very short with me, and couldn't be bothered to check for other sizes of the pants I wanted, even though it said online that this location had them in my size.... I showed him my app, and he still said "oh, we don't have those. They're sold out" and walked away. I didn't buy anything here and felt very unwelcome and like I was a burden on the employees here. Frankly, for the amount of money that everything costs here, I think it's unacceptable. Yes, I'm 40, and maybe not the exact demographic they cater to, but I'm a loyal customer and I deserved better treatment. I guess this is a thing with ALO stores..... I'll definitely be shopping online...

I had an extremely unpleasant experience (07/31) at this store. A woman who seemed to be an employee treated me with complete disrespect. She kept following me around the store and was speaking into her earpiece while staring at me, clearly communicating with someone at the register about me.
I came in with money to spend and the intention to shop, but I was made to feel so uncomfortable and embarrassed that I had no choice but to leave. I’ve never experienced anything like this in a store with such a well-known reputation.
No one should be treated like that, no matter how they look or who they are. I would appreciate the opportunity to speak directly with the manager about this situation, and I sincerely hope this never happens to anyone else again.
Respect goes a long way, and unfortunately, it was completely lacking...
