I was referred to Doc's from a well known store that specializes in home theater equipment. I took in my Epson ProCinema 6010 projector to their shop on 5/31/16 and showed up at 9 am. I then had to wait 15-20 minutes for the owner, I'm guessing, to show up and finally open the store. Their technician was there as well waiting and he didn't seem to worried, like it was an every day type thing.
When they finally opened up, I was told they work on projectors all the time and have always been able to repair them. I was told they would be able to look at it either by the end of the day or next and would CALL and let me know what the price was going to be, especially if it was over $200.
I called later the same day just to check and see if they had had any time to check the unit out yet. They said they hadn't but was set for first thing the next day and assured me they would call and let me know what they found out.
I had to work the next several days they were open and I wasn't able to call back and see if they had any luck finding the problem. I called around the end of the first week and they said they were still trying to figure out what was wrong with it. It wasn't until I finally found a chance to call again on 6/9 that they finally said they figured out what the problem was, but the part was on back order and it could not be found. Doing a simple Google search, I found several places that had it in. I also called Epson and they said they could have the part in 3 days and shipped to me for $105. I called Doc's back again and let them know the number to the Epson store, the part number that the sales agent said it was, and the exact total that it would be. I was told that the tech would be right on this and they would call me when it came in/was finished.
I called back again on 6/16 and was told now that they weren't sure really what the problem was and that I should just come pick it up and send it to Epson to be fixed. This was at 2 PM. I told her I would be in the next day to pick it up and she told me it would be ready when I got there.
I didnt show up until after 11 AM to pick it up and she said she would go in the back and try to find it. I heard her ask someone where it was and then heard her say "Well put it back together cause he is here to pick it up". So I had to wait another 10 minutes for them to put it back together, which I'm hoping was done correctly, but guessing it wasn't. When I asked about getting back my $35 down payment for inspection, they said absolutely not. I said even though you all had it 3 weeks, said you knew what was wrong with it, then said well maybe not, and then made me come and wait again on something you said was ready to go yesterday? They said, "Yep, have a good day" and walked off.
My advice for anyone looking to get something fixed that has any real value or of any quality, stay away from this place. If its a cheap TV or something that was subpar when you first purchased it, you may be ok going here. Just know going in the only communication you will have with them is when you call to find out what they "think" might be the problem.
I partly take responsibility in all of this by taking their word on they knew what they were doing when it came to projectors. It was clear that they do not have a clue when it comes to items of...
Read morePlease go anywhere else! I don't have things repaired all that often, but in my 61 years have NEVER had such an epic fail of a repair. For these reasons:
I don't mind paying them the $35 for wasting their time on it. What I mind was that my TV was held hostage for 8 months. That it seemed like they said they worked on it but never did. And the lady actually cussed me!
I am writing because this afternoon (after the TV was still not working, even intermittently, for a year and 100 tries to turn it on), i went to You tube and was shown the problem after looking up "Vizio TV won't turn on". Unscrewed the back of the TV and unscrewed the power supply board. Found the serial number off the part and ordered it on line. Granted, it took about an hour of surfing the net to find the right NEW part, because they were "Out of stock" in so many places. This particular model must have this problem a lot. Most model's Power supply board only cost $35-$50, but this one, new, was $100.
So after almost 2 years, I'm fixing it myself with a couple of internet searches and a Phillips head screwdriver. Just saying . . . Don't...
Read moreI would rate these people a negative 5 stars if I could. Hell I would go as far as negative 10. If you ever need something repaired DO NOT ever take it to Doc's. Last summer I had to have my tv repaired. I took it to Doc's because they were the cheapest around the area. You get what you pay for. My tv was in their shop for 2 months before I ever got it back. The main board need to be replaced because of a couple of hdmi ports. When my tv first went into the shop a couple of weeks went by and I heard nothing from them. So I call them. They say the part is on back order. It should be in sometime next week. Week after week this went on. I would have to keep calling them for updates and it was always the same thing. I finally call someone else here in Lexington about it and they said no way it should take that long. I was about to go get my tv when Doc's when they finally called me and said it's fixed. I go pick it up. I have no problem out of it for several months. Then last week the same problem started again. I take it back out there to them and they pretty much tell me I'm the one that damaged the exact same 2 hdmi ports I was having problems with before. They told me it was due to plugging in and taking out my (brand new) hdmi cable constantly. That specific hdmi cable has been attached to port 3 for months but they tried to tell me the cable is bad when they never even seen it. So instead of leaving it them again for 2 months I just brought it home. I then plug said bad cable into ports 1 and 2 and the picture and sound is perfectly fine. I don't believe they ever ordered and installed a new board. I think they just fixed the old one somehow and said it was new. It's just to coincidental that the same 2 hdmi ports would just screw up the picture the same way again and yet it's my fault? So my advice to you again DO NOT take anything to Doc's. You won't see your device for 2 months or longer, get the run around, and probably have the original problem occur again several...
