El Rancho Taqueria — Restaurant in Nicholasville

I seen all of the great reviews on here and was excited to give it a try. I ordered a steak chimichanga platter with rice and beans and actually received a chicken chimichanga instead, my daughter ordered a mega chicken quesadilla. We also had an order of chips and salsa and 3 Mexican cokes in the glass bottles (these cokes are so good). My total ticket was over $50 with tip! We both thought that the chicken had a very strange taste. I eat Mexican cuisine all of the time and have never tasted anything like it, so I’m not sure what kind of seasoning was used. The staff was very friendly, the restaurant was clean, the food was hot, however sadly, it just wasn’t very good. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing and would have enjoyed it more if I had ordered their street tacos that everyone was raving about in the reviews. I just don’t think I will be able to give it...

Tacos were good. Service was great. The queso was awful. Lacked flavor/spices and cheese tasted odd. Not sure what they use but should go back to the drawing board with white American and heavy whipping cream base. As a queso junkie it's the worst I can remember. But the tacos and salsa were good. Would be nice to see a higher health department score too (82 when I visited). Price mark seemed a little high ($10 for two steak tacos and very small container of queso/chips. Ok so i ordered 3 tortas 1 polo 2 asada.. it said on the website $9.50 well they charged me $38 & some change tax & everything. Which i have never paid more than $10 for one. The taste was basic. Size was basic. You didnt get nothing but torta for that price. Well you get salsa... Im married to a mexican & sometimes because i am white they try to cheat me they do it alot in Lexington not everyone but alot have. I wont eat here again.
