Commemorative Rosaries — Local services in Niles Township

A really stunning job was done by Vicky for our family on two occasions. I cannot say enough good about the work Vicky does.

After my brother's funeral in 2005, my mom gathered up all of the finest-looking roses and put them into a zip-lock bag. She then placed those bags into her freezer, where they'd remain for some time.

She would always tell me, "I plan to use these roses to have them made into a rosary with your brother's name inscribed on them."

Every time she told me this, I would think to myself that I must do this for her.

Sixteen years would pass before I finally did.

After clearing my mom's apartment in October, only two things remained after the movers hauled away the very last of her mementos: the two zip-lock bags of roses from my brother's funeral.

I had to act quickly. Those roses would thaw out, wither, and die if kept in storage with the rest of my mom's keepsakes. I finally looked into this process.

"Can rosaries be made out of roses kept in the freezer for many years?" I found myself tapping into Google.

One of the first results led me to Commemorative Rosaries in Skokie, Illinois. I called the number attached to their website and spoke with Vicky for some time.

I shared my brother's story with her and explained that my fighter of a mother was very ill and that I would like for her to see and hold my brother's rosary made from the flowers she so patiently held onto for all of these years. She said she would be happy to help make this happen.

I drove the priceless flowers, now beginning to thaw, straight to Vicky's home and left them in her good care.

Three weeks later, the rosary arrived, looking as beautiful as ever and identical to the rosary you see here.

My mom held, kissed, and cried when she held my brother's rosary for the first time. She kept it close to her heart before her passing. My mom forever is holding onto his, now I forever hers.
