I absolutely adore this Greek restaurant!
As a Chicago native who has been to a multitude of Greek restaurants throughout my lifetime, I find Psistaria the finest one without question which, interestingly enough, just happens to be in Lincolnwood and well worth the trip out there.
Elegant, captivating and extremely inviting, Psistaria offers phenomenal Greek fare that is given the most tender loving care while boosting flavor components that go way beyond what one would expect. Dining here becomes a phenomenal experience that become memorable and exciting and transports the customer to the beautiful Greek islands without a care in the world.
One can tell how a Greek restaurant stands by trying their gyros. It's a definitive indicator. Oftentimes, gyros meat is dry, tasteless and unappetizing and adding tons of tzatziki sauce becomes a life saver that brings welcome relief to something as thrilling as cardboard.
Not here.
The gyros meat at Psistaria is so flavorful, juicy and given the most perfect royal spice blend that it feel as though I never had real gyros until I dined here. Honestly!
Sumptuous appetizers, terrific salads, excellent main courses and perfect deserts really set the bar high making this restaurant the Mount Olympus of Greek cuisine. I've had dinner here many times and never had a dish that wasn't superb. They even carry their own line of olive oil that can be purchased and has to be tasted to be believed. It's like a fine wine.
The staff is expertly attentive, courteous and knowledgeable and makes dining here an absolute joy. It's like being at The Ritz-Carlton without Ritz-Carlton prices.
One server deserves special recognition. Kosta is absolutely magnificent and gives the epitome of spectacular service with warmth, enthusiasm and genuineness. He is just ideal, so please ask for him. He's the best!
Do make Psistaria a part of your permanent dining itinerary. You've never had true Greek cuisine until...
Read moreWell my best friend had mentioned about Psistatia in Lincolnwood and I have to say what a delight and opportunity it was to dine in here. He treated me out in regards to doing a favor for him since he just purchased a new car and required a ride to Glencoe, IL. I mentioned that I was hungry after a job interview and he decided to generously upgrade my treat out to Greek cuisine. I had seen this restaurant and my friend had mentioned it and this occasion was the right place at the right time. Anyways I have to say it was very good. The garlic bread before the appetizers was very flavorful then most Greek restaurants I experienced. They added a unique seasoning on the bread that gave it a unique a delicious flavor. I ordered today's special which was the "Arni Fournou" or oven bake lamb with potatoes, garlic soaked in Olive oil and it was excellent. The lamb was was easy to take off the bone and was so so delicious. It came with two choices of the soup of the day. I usually take the traditional Greek lemon soup but they had the chicken vegetable soup that was so tasty. The chicken vegetable was chicken broth base with the same tasty seasoning with the garlic bread. It was "yummy" good. The Greek lamb meat wrapped in Olive leaves called "Dolmadres" was equally delicious but the portion of that appetizer was average. I still had room or appetite for desert and finished it off with a traditional baklava which was rightfully sweet and superbly delicious. A must go too if one does not want to drive to Chicago Greek town and your in Lincolnwood, Niles, Skokie vicinity. Reason only 4 stars is because the prices or tab is a little costly and I have had better. The Dolmadres again for the price and portions you get was too expensive and from my experience had much more portion in other Greek restaurants in the Chicagoland area than others. Again It is a must try when you're in the...
Read moreRight before Christmas, my wife and I visited this place based on a referral from a family member that is very, very familiar with tons of restaurants in Chicago,he said it’s one of his favorites and would also say it’s one of the best Greek restaurants in Chicago if not the best !!Being a restaurant owner myself I said, OK we’ll see about that. This place was clean, festive and busy. We were seated immediately, even though the place was packed. The staff was amazing, from The front of the house being greeted with a smile, from the Bus staff,to waiters, waitresses, bartenders, and kitchen help we didn’t have to ask for anything, it was like a well oiled machine. Everyone knew there position. The food came out in a timely matter and was absolutely amazing, hot, plentiful and every bite was delicious. We had plenty of leftovers and enjoyed another two meals from that. My wife and I have been back a second time and will continue to go back when we have a taste for Mediterranean Greek cuisine. From the front door with valet to the weight, staff and everyone involved was 100% one of our best experiences in a Chicago land restaurant, they do not disappoint, if you haven’t been to Psistaria Greek taverna, we highly, highly recommend you try… GUARANTEE!!! you will love this place and it will be a regular place to visit.
FYI…. After eating at Psistaria your dining experience is going to be at a new level and when you go to other Greek restaurants you will compare and all the other places will fall short one way or another….. Believe me when we tell you this, being a restaurant owner and somewhat of a Critiquing snob, you will enjoy this place and 100% guaranteed return as a...
