All over the place, and none of it good.
OK, a not busy saturday evening (!! 50% full at best), and we were an 8-top. They successfully honored our reservation, and unfortunately that was about the last of the things that went right this evening.
The environment of the restaurant is nice, except that there are no noise treatments anywhere. Since everything is a hard surface inside, the result is a bit like eating inside a swimming pool; the environment is extremely loud with zippy echoes everywhere, despite only being half full. I measured it a few times around 85dB, which is the point where you're not quite shouting to be heard to the person next to you and you're definitely having to concentrate full force to hear the person next to you speaking. So unless you're deaf and use sign language with your table mates, you're gonna have a bad time talking.
The service, though personally affable, is terrible from start to finish. I asked for water when I sat down. I asked for water when I ordered. I asked for water when the waiter came back to clarify the order. Finally significantly after my food was delivered I got in the waiter's face saying I'VE BEEN ASKING FOR WATER SINCE WE SAT DOWN (which was now about 50 minutes in!) and finally got some. It'd be a crime against humanity if it wasn't somewhat humorous.
Food service and presentation left everything to be desired. Food server (not our waiter) showed up with two plates and stood at the head of the table trying to scream over the noise. Unfortunately she picked the wrong end, and nobody at that end of the table had any idea who ordered the salad. Rather than moving, she tried yelling again, but the far side of the table could only hear noise, not what she was saying. Only after making the "come here" and "can't hear you" motions did she make her way to other side.
Food was below average and clearly demonstrated zero care in preparation. Burger came out burnt to a crisp and had to be re-made. Onion straws served cold and with literally congealed grease. (!!) Change ("hold the avaocado and tomatoes") were ignored entirely. Of the eight top, 50% were incorrect and had to be re-made. 50%! You can't run a restaurant like that and expect people to come back! Worse, the chicken club's chicken was so thin that I'm of a mind it came out of a deli slicer; I don't know how you could get chicken breast cut 1/8" thin otherwise! But somehow that happened and was served on a $19 sandwich. If you're going for deli sliced meats, far better value to be had a mile or two down at Kaufman's. Worse, when the onion straws (served cold) were taken away, NOTHING returned! So a bad food value was made even worse by changing the deal afterwards to simply not include the botched item!
The mad cherry on top is that management clearly doesn't care. Waiter never returned to check how our orders were until I got in his face about the water, then only the water situation was resolved. Front of house manager DID NOT EXIST, or if he did he was hiding in the kitchen the entire meal. There were no bussers that checked on our table. The interactions were, in order... seated. Asked for water from waiter. Waiter returns to take drink & appetizer orders, ask for water again. Drinks returned (no water), ask for water again, take orders. Half an hour transpires, no checks from any staff. First food served with deliverer yelling at one end of table. Second food arrives, bad straws removed and burned burger sent back. Burger was fixed and that's when I got in waiter's face about NO WATER. Then the check was presented. Except for us flagging down staff on inedible items, no checks were made as to quality and or satisfaction at all. Don't know who the manager on duty was, because he/she/they never made a single appearance.
If you get a bad waiter, hey, bad waiter. If you get a bad chef, hey bad chef. Bad manager? Bad manager. But a hat trick with bad waiter, bad chef, bad food server, AND a nonexistent manager shows nothing to redeem here.
Owner asked to contact them, but left no...
Read moreOur burger club made its way to Fatpour Tap Works in Lincolnwood recently. I made a reservation online, but it wasn't necessarily needed on a Monday night. Which is not a bad thing as they certainly weren't empty, but they lacked servers. Our server joked around with us and took a drink order and immediately brought our drinks while we looked at the menu.
And then we waited for quite a while to order. It took about 25 minutes for the server to get to us for our order. She then whipped out the handheld device to take our orders tableside so there are no mistakes I guess. However, since they are so new, she had a hard time using the device and couldn't go back in to make edits once she entered an order. For example, I ordered The Farmer burger. I forgot to mention I wanted the bbq sauce on the side. However, since she was already onto the next person, she said she couldn't go back into my order to make the edit, but said she would mark it down. She forgot and my burger was slathered in bbq sauce, which actually took away from the overall flavor of the burger itself.
Three Farmers, one classic cheeseburger, and two maple-bacon burgers were ordered. They give you two sides with your burger (which is huge, by the way, so you're stuffing yourself silly with one side, let alone two. I got a side salad and mashed & stout gravy. The mashed was fantastic! I had asked for no tomatoes in the salad. It arrived with tomatoes and onions (they really need to list the items in the salad as I don't like either). The onions easily made up a third of the salad. Others got brussel sprouts (he said they were good, but I'm not a fan), the mac and cheese (also said was good), roasted mushrooms (was a full bowl and he could barely eat them - just too many), and sweet potato fries. One person had their hot side cold and cold side hot. None of us complained. It is what it is and this place is fairly new.
What I will say is that the food took over and hour to make its way from the kitchen to us. The place was maybe half full, but we noticed that other tables who were sitting when we arrived had appetizers but no main meals. We inquired and were told there was a large group in the party room. And...that shouldn't matter as the kitchen needs to be way more on the ball than that. They served the large group first and then the rest of the place. And we were told that's what they did. Not cool.
The burgers, though, almost made up for it., They were huge! And cooked almost to perfection (mine was slathered in bbq sauce which I scooped off). The bacon thick and crispy, the meat seasoned nicely, bread and butter pickles (not my favorite, but still good), and a nice thick bun. It was hard to eat as it was so thick. I eventually just deconstructed it and ate it in pieces.
They have a nice outdoor area and ample parking in the garage.
I think that once Fatpour gets its kinks worked out, it will be a force to be reckoned with. For now, it's a good place for good burgers, and good times. Better times are right...

Me and my friends arrived at the restaurant on July 9th at 9:35 PM. We were seated and patiently waiting for a server. While waiting, one of my friends made some space on the table by moving the extra menus to a nearby table. A man suddenly rushed over and harshly placed the menus back on our table. At first, we assumed it was a misunderstanding.
Moments later, the same man returned and aggressively told us, “The kitchen closes in 10 minutes.” We responded that we were ready to order, but no one had taken our order yet. He rudely said the server had come and left already — which wasn’t true. Eventually, the actual server came and greeted us politely. We explained what had happened, and she was understanding, calling it a miscommunication.
However, the same man came back to our table again, raised his voice, and started yelling at us instead of clarifying things or apologizing. He acted in an extremely unprofessional and disrespectful manner. Let me be clear — this man, Dustin (with a D) — was being blatantly racist.
He was polite and welcoming to other nearby tables but treated us with open hostility. If your restaurant treats Indians like this, maybe you should just put a sign at the entrance saying “No Indians Allowed.” We are hardworking people, not freeloaders. When we choose to dine at your establishment, we are supporting your business — not asking for favors.
I have been a regular customer who comes almost every week just for my favorite dish, but after this humiliating and discriminatory experience, I will never return, and I strongly urge others in the Desi community to stay away as well.
Check your cameras, review the footage, and see for yourself how Dustin treated us. If this is how you operate, you’ve not only lost loyal customers — you've also revealed the racist reality behind your...
