Last few times Iāve gone to get groceries here (most recent being yesterday 1/27/25), either majority of the staff is in not the best mood/less than friendly(which may be a result of current world events which is understandable) or/and I get stared at and followed by the manager, though he never says anything to me when we are face to face (been shopping there for about a year and just within the last couple months this has been occurring; I havenāt caused issues, the staff used to chat with me, now they just glare or watch me, yet never say anything). I donāt like shopping at big corporations, thatās one of a few reasons I started shopping there. Another reason is because my kiddo is differently abled, the lighting and sound in there is perfect for them. I want to be able to spend my money and it goes to the employees, not some corporation. Maybe Iāll just take my $400-$600+ that I spend monthly somewhere else.. or just try to do online pick up order so I donāt have to deal with the uncomfortableness.
Update: 2/2/2025 just a bit after 12pm, this trip was much more pleasant. Maybe because a certain manager wasnāt there and I didnāt have to use the self check out. My options are limited in shopping so Iāll stick with this location until I can find a way to have groceries delivered or just come in on Sunday afternoons only. Also the lady at the gas station has always been lovely and same with most of the staff, just a few in the store part that have made me feel uncomfortable in the past, which is what I spoke about in my...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreMost embarrassing moment of my life, right I came in after I got off work, single mom, multiple kids, I've recently had hour cuts at work causing me not to receive enough for milk and bread... go to the register and was yelled across the store for all to hear "WIC, YOU HAVE WIC? WE DONT TAKE WIC AT THIS REGISTER AND NEVER HAVE" I tried to say, okay but you have no other register open.... "Yes I have to get the manager for WIC..." BANGS ON THE OFFICE DOOR... ,"There's a wic here" "Come to this register".... Listen I get it, but I don't i was so embarrassed infront of my kid I didn't even want to stay there. I rushed out to my car and cried... I work hard I make good money when my hours are not mandatory cut due to it being slow I asked for assistance for milk bread and eggs for my kids... I've been to this location many times everyone is usually really nice. This was embarrassing, and no for those who say "wic and food stamps are for people who want to mooch off the system... I WORK I AM A MANAGER AT MY JOB MY OWN TAXES PAY FOR MY OWN NEEDS. INFLATION IS HIGH AND I JUST WENT TO GET BREAD AND MILK FOR MY KIDS.... that was so embarrassing I'm still crying because you didn't have to do that to me I did nothing to you for you to scream to the store repeatedly multiple times that I had wic and you don't take that there (at the self check out) when you do indeed take it there but had no one manning a register.... I'll probably never go...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI have shopped at this store for more than 20 years. The same pharmacists have been in the pharmacy inside the store for that time. The store appears to be struggling as it's inventory selection shrinks and it tries to hide large empty spaces. The competition between grocery stores in Norman right now is fierce. Homeland has good produce when they have what you want. Their butcher case has shrunk by half and the prices are comparable to other stores on meats. They have a deli and some pre-prepared foods to take home. I could do all of my shopping at Homeland but the cost of their products is substantially higher in some cases and I simply cannot afford to spend a third again the cost of the product. It makes me sad because I've gone to homeland for so long, and I know so many of the employees who have been there for decades. But really the only reason I've shopped there is because of the pharmacy. they are sharp as nails, they catch mistakes, they have good information, they have never let me down. When the pharmacy, or those pharmacists in particular leave, I won't go to...
