I have had many a burger around Norman, but somehow hadn't caught wind of the Double Del® Cheeseburger until very recently. I had never been to a Del Taco®, but just knew that I had to try this legendary sandwich for myself. None of my friends were brave enough to try it with me until yesterday. A roommate and I embarked alone on this quest for what might possibly be the holy grail of fast food. We would've gone inside, but when we realized we weren't properly dressed for the occasion we pulled up to the drive-thru instead. A cheery voice naïvely asked us what we wanted, as if the answer could be anything but two Double Del® Cheeseburger meals with Diet Coke® and lemonade. As we drove back, the intoxicating smell filled the car and we couldn't wait to dig in. After delicately unwrapping the paper around our sandwiches, one thing became evident: I forgot to ask for no tomato on my Double Del® Cheeseburger. But there was no time for regrets; we were past the point of no return. The first bite blew me away. It's clear that the Double Del® Cheeseburger is inspired by the Big Mac®, albeit in the same way Enzo Ferrari was inspired by Henry Ford. I couldn't even be mad about the tomato; it was the composer in an orchestra of mouth feel. The deliberate choices in patty seasoning and a crumbly bun are likely to be controversial, understood by only the most astute of burger connoisseurs. A full 5 minutes later knew I had experienced the best burger in Norman, and nobody can convince...
Read moreI'm really sad about these bad reviews. I've always loved Del Taco. I prefer my ground beef to NOT be covered in sauce, and Del Taco's beef always tastes fresh. Their fries are delicious. It's one of the only places to get good crinkle cut fries. I have always ordered regular, crunchy, beef tacos, large fries, and chicken quesadillas and they're almost always hot and fresh. I don't think it's overpriced at all, in fact it's one of the cheaper places to go. I am really happy that this Del Taco popped up. I live in Houston, and this is literally the closest one to me (which I hope changes!). I lived in Colorado before, and was a frequent Del Taco customer. When I visit friends in Norman, I will make a point to get my favorite fast food taco. Don't get me wrong, I love the other taco places around here, too. I just missed Del Taco and have always enjoyed the flavors they offer. People may call it bland, but some of us prefer our taco meat to NOT come out of a...
Read moreOrdinarily the food is awesome! I've been a fan of Del Taco for most of my life being a native Californian. However tonight we experienced the rudest drive they service ever, along with our bags being shoved to us with the bags themselves being crammed full of food and a pile of napkins crumpled and smushed down on top of our already overflowing from the way too small bags. Could it have killed the girl to separate some things and use an additional or gasp a LARGER bag?! Not only this but we asked for extra lume with the fish tacos, we received the extra lime, in the form of a lime wedge LITERALLY thrown into one of the bags. We dis not know this and when we arrived home the bag was very wet from this lime wedge that seeped all over the order and made our ridiculously small bag rip as soon as we got inside the house. Seriously disappointed.
