Honestly been disappointed both times I’ve been there. The selection isn’t really my thing- lots of twee little pictures, not a lot of historic sampler reproductions or other types of charts. No hands across the sea samplers and very little heartstring samplery for instance. Bunch of like plum street samplery (which I like some of) and the like Lori holt style 100x100 stitch size motifs for ornaments or whatever.
Thread is cotton only, no silk, although they do have a few lines of cotton floss. They have a good selection of fabrics, about 50/50 Aida vs linen - but most of their linen had no price on it. I suppose because they’d cut it down for you? But I still want to know the yardage price before you cut it, otherwise I’m not going to bother. Little in the way of fine stitching accessories either- eg didn’t see any scroll frames available, or much in the way of good hoops, although maybe I missed them.
Really ground my gears though being kind of ignored presumably bc I’m a youngish guy and not an old lady or something. First time I was there the lady asked me “do you stitch”- uh, I’ve spent the last half hour digging through your charts and linens, yeah duh. And then today was basically totally ignored, I guess she had a friend in or something to talk to. I don’t like being hovered over but I didn’t feel particularly welcomed either.
It’s a shame because I spend a lot of money on needlework supplies, but I wish they carried a broader range of supplies and they didn’t seem to write people off who aren’t already their friends or who don’t look like their usual customers. At least they have a...
Read moreThis is a charming and welcoming shop. Owner is friendly and helpful without being pushy. I am an advanced stitcher but I have observed that she (the owner) makes it very approachable for beginners. The stitchers I encountered at open stitching were so nice — not cliquey at all. I wished I could get there more often than I do, due to distance, as this is an 1 1/2 hour drive for me—but it’s worth it, and I don’t say that about many places. Please frequent this ahop for your stitching needs, she’s creating a...
Read moreGreat store and so close to home!! I have been here a couple of times now, to buy supplies and to bounce design ideas around. Pam is wonderful, I can get pretty chatty and she never makes me feel like she’s disinterested in my ramblings. Wonderful store, friendly and patient owner, I couldn’t ask for more!! She also has blocks of time scheduled where individuals or groups can go and stitch at the store. If you’re into stitching and in the area, you must put this store...
