was absolutely shocked at how rude and disrespectful and inconsiderate the guy who was I’m guessing in charge. Might I add a grown man… myself and many others were at the library trying to study. We all were extremely quiet whispering and respectful as that is what is required at libraries. He continued to shout and have absolutely no consideration. Shouting “kill him” and other disturbing phrases. He seemed extremely immature. And had all the tvs loud. It was insane. Maybe bring your video games somewhere else and not a library where people come for silence. He even said out loud “we were a little loud for a library”“””BUT THATS OKAY””” letting the children know it’s okay to be rude and inconsiderate. He looked right at us while saying it too. Just a very unprofessional and absolutely rude grown adult man. Multiple people got fed up and walked out. And now I have to leave without any work done because of useless uneducated video games. He was bald with black glasses on his head slim build with his mushroom game shirt on I’m thinking of posting his picture. I hope these people never come back to this library they had zero consideration for anyone but themselves the kids also had zero respect besides maybe 3 of them seemed to have been taught manners. And the couple of lady’s were laughing super loud . I honestly thought it was a prank at first .nope some people do act this way.I also have videos. Just in case one wanted to deny their actions!!!! Next time have some respect. This was at the Holbrook library at 1pm. Please play your video games else wear some people have school and need to study that is what libraries are for. Please do not bring yourself and your video games again. Would be very much...
Read moreWe were staying in the area for a convention this weekend and my boys were so "bored". We couldn't find anything in this area until I opened my yelp & found One Up Games. My boys were skeptical at first just by looking at the pictures but we decided to check it out. They open at 12:00am on Sunday, so that gave us time to eat and do a little morning shopping. As the time got closer the boys were super excited. They said they had done their own research and it looked awesome. When we walked in we were greeted immediately by staff. You could tell he was super cool & was a gamer himself. The atmosphere is great! Gaming decorations all over, gaming consoles, monitors, TVs and more. This place offers every single gaming system you can think of. The best part was they offer keyboard & mouse for Fortnite. They have an entire room for PCs. From what I can remember they had Playstation, Xbox, Nintendo switch, Wii U, PC and I'm sure more. They offer gaming tournaments, birthday parties and take groups. If your kid is 12 or older you can drop them off without a parent. And guess what? It was only $5.00 an hour!! We paid for the boys to have 4 hours and they loved it. They also offer hot pockets and snacks for a small fee. This is gamer heaven! We were so excited about this we are personally looking into starting a place like this in our home town. I highly recommend One Up Games for your kids. Especially if your on vacation and want some adult time, drop your kiddo off and they will love...
Read moreJust had an amazing Fortnite tournament at the Cohasset library, hosted by One Up Games. Excellent experience, and great staff. The "On The Go" team members that were there (Peter and Kenny) were so kind and patient to all of the kids (5th grade through 12th grade).
I heard nothing but encouragement, shared joy, and excited (and patient!) question answering. ("Have you met the owners of Fortnite???" was my favorite). They should both be commended for making the experience great for every child present. Peter mentioned the online free tournaments coordinated through their private (moderated) Discord, and you could tell the team takes online child welfare and safety seriously in the pursuit of engaging team play in online games.
Execution of the tournament went better than I expected, score keeping was smooth (big shout out to Kenny for manning that spreadsheet so deftly), and everyone left with nothing but smiles.
Setup was good, equipment all worked perfectly, but I suggest in the future they bring more...
