2025-06: The new price cuts are great, much needed everywhere. But the customer service has been outstanding. The last two times I've shopped at Aldi, I left the store smiling simply because of the interactions with the cashiers. I can't recall the young lady's name at the moment, but Lavenski has a laugh that made me feel good to hear, so it was fun talking and joking around as he performed his job proficiently. I'm still smiling. THANK YOU, LAVENSKI! You are the rare type to keep the important things in motion. Like, the human element. You made my day!
2022-06: For me, I'd have to say Aldi is right on par with my previously updated review. Some necessities (toilet paper, laundry detergent, cleaning supplies, etc.) are definitely teetering alongside any given chain grocery store. Seems to me their produce section has gotten a bit smaller, but I could be wrong due to this being a quick trip and the produce section being moved/reorganized. The "seasonal" stuff was more plentiful, but also a bit of a disarray. Eh.
2021-11: It has been awhile since I have visited this store in person. I found that prices have gone up, almost to the point of being about the same as the big grocery chains. They still had many items at a noticeable lower cost, but a lot of the meat, dairy, and produce was right up there with other grocery stores. When we went to check out, there was one cashier and a long line. They did bring in a second cashier, but this experience was different from previous visits here. Dropped from 5 to 4 stars.
2019: I have been a customer of ALDI since the chain first popped up in Columbia, SC, where I was living at the time. The ALDI on Bobby Jones has always been clean, organized, and I can always get fresh produce and meats. The fact that all ALDI employees, no matter "how far up the ladder" they stand, they are required to spend so much time on the floor, interacting with customers, doing all the various tasks of all the employees really shows in their customer service and the understanding they have of their store in every aspect.
I'll gladly pack my own groceries in bags/boxes for the pleasant experience in the store and the low prices. I'll absolutely...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreYou can save on some things but not everything. They have some national brands and will have limited buys with special items. The brands they carry are tasty and the produce is fresh. Yesterday, 10% of my total grocery bill was spent at Aldi saving me $3 over Walmart and Kroger. You have to decide if the extra time and drive is worth the trouble. But comparing their Instacart pricing is not much higher than in-store prices, so if you order enough to avoid their fee, that increases the value with convenience.
The first time I shopped at Aldi, I saved about $9 for the week over Walmart, but I bought a lot more, shopped in person, and replaced all my national brand items with what Aldi had. Some of those items were not available this time. I now shop online at all three stores and compare prices live, and shopping completely at Aldi isn't justified for me. And some things you just want your brands, like Heinz ketchup. But their granola bars are EXCELLENT, especially the price.
For the rest of my groceries, 25% was spent at Kroger, and 65% at Walmart. Milk and meat were less expensive at Walmart for a total of $237.80. I will continue because the savings do add...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreBad, rude and inexperienced cashier. Zero common sense. His line was super long and he asked me to go to another cash register but no one was there. I waited and no one came i did see other employees looking at me. I noticed that his Lane was moving fast and it would have been my turn next if I stayed in his Lane. So I approached him and ask why did you have me go to a lane where there's no one there and all he could yell out was sorry I did call people. There was a manager next to him but she did not care to jump in and take care of this mess and there's another employee next to him. I had my child with me and we just couldn't wait any longer or stand at the end of another line again. So, I just left my groceries on the belt of the line that was never opened and just walked out. We would spend $500 a month at Aldi. But since this horrible experience I stopped shopping at Aldi and just go to Walmart and Sam's club...
