Golden Corral has always been a special place for me, ever since my Grandpa took me there every Saturday growing up in New Mexico.(back in the early 90s) Now living in Alabama, I was heartbroken when my local Golden Corral closed yeaaars ago. So, on a recent road trip to Columbia, I was beyond excited to stop at the Augusta, Georgia, location—and let me tell you, it exceeded all my expectations! This location has the biggest food selection I’ve ever seen at a Golden Corral. The yeast rolls, my absolute favorite, were perfection, but they didn’t stop there. They had regular biscuits, butter biscuits, and even cheddar bay biscuits like the ones from Red Lobster. It was biscuit and roll heaven! Since it was Christmas season, they also had their holiday menu out, and everything was incredible. The stuffing, yams, turkey, and ham were all cooked to perfection. Honestly, everything I tried was amazing. The only downside was how crowded it was. The tables are very close together, so it’s a little hard to sit comfortably when you’re back-to-back with other guests. But with food this good, it was totally worth it. If you’re ever near Augusta, you have to stop by this Golden Corral!

The buffet for two with to go cups was 35.00. We went on a Monday evening. I was looking forward to a variety of foods. The buffet has the exact menu items for lunch and dinner. An entire section of the menu is closed. We were limited to baked chicken, fried chicken, chicken livers, boiled ribs, steak, Baked fish, salad bar And a few trsfitional veggies that de est n the South. My issue was that they were not replenishing the buffet items. I wanted chicken livers. They were looking very dried out do I waited a while. They never replenished them. The dessert bar was s disaster. Every item was picked over and more than half empty. The cobblers were cold and old and did not look appetizing. The manager on duty was stsnkng in the entry plsyin on his mobile device instead of walking the floor making sure things were proper. The picture shows a piece of dried out baked chicken that I tried to enjoy Also a couple servers did not wear masks. If that matters to you just wait til pandemic is done

Horrible customer service and the food was not much better. I spoke with the manager on duty supposedly named Rosa and she continued to support the rude waiter who refused to clean a larger table in the section we were seated in . I definitely won’t be returning and wouldn’t be surprised to see this location closing and relocating in another part of town because at the end of the day we the customers have to come in here to keep this place open. She eventually cleared the table herself but it was to late because they already divided the family and we were about to leave.. go figure?

I would like to comment not on the food, however, the subpar customer service from management/owner. My family and I recently visited this location on yesterday morning for breakfast as we typically do on Sundays. The guy at the omelette station was rude to my wife. We’ve noticed his lack of customer skills on prior visits, but instead we chose to ignore it. However, yesterday I decided to bring this to the attention of the manager on duty, who apparently was the owner. Instead of listening to my concern, his demeanor, body language and response was not of someone who was really concerned with my issue. Actually, he the manager/owner became upset because I informed him that as a paying customer, as with any paying customer, I told him that I demand customer service and respect. I further explained that any paying customer would demand the same. It’s not all about the food aa patrons visit this establishment, but customer service plays a big part of it as well. Mind you, I am upset, but not loud , making a scene nor being rude in my conversation with him. I even asked him if we could go to his office or step outside to discuss the matter, but he declined. In turn the manager/owner became rude and told me that I can leave because he didn’t like that I demanded respect and good customer service. I kindly accepted and received my refund, but to make this story more interesting is that as while my family and were leaving, the other owner comes yelling and streaming and yelling saying “get the hell out of here and telling the other manager to call the police.” This came at a surprise to my wife and I because not once during this encounter were we rude, loud, disrespectful when previously speaking with the other manager. Also, never were we rude or disrespectful during our visit. I guess the point that I am trying to convey is that this establishment visited by several people not only in the Augusta area, but surrounding cities as well. For the owners to ignore a legitimate concern, but instead become rude is something everyone looking to visit this establishment should be aware of. Again, it’s not all about food, however, people visit these locations for an atmosphere of good customer service and respect; not having to deal with rude behavior by the staff to include the ownership. If the owners are reading this, I am more than willing to have a conversation, but the people of this community and those who frequently visit this restaurant need visibility of how you treat customers with concerns are brought to your. I am not sure who else has experienced...

This Golden Coral was excellent for several reasons.

  1. I never saw fresh cooked food stirred into older food. I sat close to the buffet and watched as several food items were REPLACED when newer food came out.
  2. I want to enjoy my eating experience by not having to look around at dirty dishes sitting on other tables. Where I sat every time customers left, there was an immediate clean up their tables.
  3. My server, who brought us our drinks, was so attending. Every time I left to go to the buffet to get something new, she would come by and take my older plate. She would return again with a pitcher to freshen up my drink.
  4. I have no unusual request to ask if my waitress, which he promptly filled. I know it was unusual, and when I said, "Please don't think I'm crazy but I want... She just smiled and said, "You're not the only one that likes it that way." Thereby making me feel comfortable!
  5. I was very impressed with the cleanliness of the restrooms. Every little thing was clean in the women's bathroom. Even the mirror had no water splashes on it! The drains on the floor are even clean. I know that sounds unusual, but when you see that somebody took the time to unscrew the drain and keep it cleaned out so that there was no stale water smell. I took notice of things such as this.
  6. My compliments to the cooks. There was not one item that I put on my plate that did not have some type of individual seasoning. A lot of times, when you go to a buffet bar, all the food has the same seasonings. This was not so here. You could tell that somebody took pride in the food that they were putting out for us. I felt like a guest in someone's home! That they had taken time to prepare a lovely dinner for me!!!
  7. While I was there, a raffle for a TV was being held. It was veterans taking up money to go towards Christmas gifts for soldiers who were overseas. The two men who were hosting this raffle we're so kind! Every time an older man would come up and tell his story to the men, they would listen and quietly not their head, then they stood and shook hands with the veterans. What respect was being shown.

As elderly people came through the line, I watched time and time again that a waitress would come up and ask first if she could help them before taking their tray. It was all these little bitty signs of respect and kindness and love been shown to others that impressed me so much that I will be returning to eat at this Golden...

Update 5-10-24 Friday approximately 3pm Salad bar-spinach, chicken, beets empty. Looks like a while since anything on the salad bar has been refilled Out of baked fish Waitress Amy/Penelope (is what was on tag) was abrupt and left plates on our table Whole establishment didn’t seem cleaned up when patrons left We appaently sat in am employee area as orientation was going on and a staff member promptly sat down next to us and started playing his phone on speaker March 2024 This place was great! My husband and I have gone to a Golden Corral elsewhere before and based on that one trip swore we would never go back. Well, we tried the one in Augusta and were very pleasantly surprised!!! The food was fresh as I saw the employees putting out new trays of entrees and salad ingredients out many times. There was an order a sirloin/hamburger (I think) area, carved ham and turkey, fried and baked fish. A wide variety of side dishes and vegetables. I was not in love with absolutely everything I tried but that is to be expected and if I wasn't a fan I could simply try something else. The many choices is such a plus for us because having a variety and to be able to portion myself was fantastic. The soft serve ice cream wasn't that great so I had carrot cake instead and that was wonderful. We went in the afternoon on a Friday. I did have to sweep off the seats before we sat down but that was of little trouble. The wait staff was quick to refill our drinks and to take plates that were done away. The front cashiers were also very friendly and helpful For the two of us to eat it was approximately $32 I unfortunately did not take pictures but I will next...
