Tonight was our second visit to Koi. We were cruising for a lunch spot about a month ago and ran up on this place one Sunday afternoon. We sat at a table and really enjoyed our meal. The service was great.
We have a tradition to do hibachi for our birthdays and my son said then that he wanted to come back for his birthday meal. Well tonight we did just that. Upon arriving, I put our name down and one of the hostess informed me that it would be a 35-45 minute wait for hibachi. I said that that was fine. So we waited. My fiancé went to go check on our spot in line as he saw people coming in being seated before us. At this time he spoke with a hostess (which we later found out her name, Tori). I don’t know exactly what she was saying to my fiancé because I was still seated, but I could see all the attitude she was giving him, rolling her eyes, hand motions and all. Then it got to a point she wouldn’t even look at him, just starred down at the sign in sheet, yapping with hand motions. Like I said, never witnessed or experienced anything like this at a restaurant like this, maybe Burger or Subway.
So that was that and we continued to wait, again it was for our son’s birthday celebration. So maybe another 20-25 minutes passed and people are being seated ahead of us and my fiancé goes back up to the hostess stand to ask about our place in line. He was speaking with another hostess who was trying to figure it out then Tori walked up, with more rudeness, trying to explain that people had reservations and my fiancé pointed out that we’d been waiting over an hour and the people that were there for a reservation were 25 minutes late. Tori wasn’t trying to hear any of that. Then she just flat out and asked my fiancé if he wanted to talk to somebody else. That’s when she went and got the manager.
I didn’t catch the manager’s name, but he was a young black guy. But he made sure we were taken care of. Once we were done dealing with Tori, our experience made a complete 180. The food was great, our cook was great, and our service at our table was superb.
Not sure if we’ll be back to visit. If we do decide to come back, I’ll probably call ahead of time to make sure Tori isn’t working. She does not need to work in a customer-facing environment. Let her wash some dishes...
Read moreWent to this location yesterday. My friend recommended me to go to this location she said it was very good. I asked my mother-in-law if she would like to go eat at this place so we did. We got there and we were seated it took about 15 minutes for our waitress (Hannah) to ask us what we wanted to drinks when she brought us our drinks back she asked us if we knew what we wanted. We placed our orders it took about 15 minutes for our salads to come after that took like another 15 minutes for our soups to come out which was not even hot . Out of the whole time we were there she probably came three times to our table. When it came time for our check She brought us one check with both our orders On it she never asked if we wanted to be together or separate. We explained to her that it needed to be separate and let her know what I was going to pay for. Which was the last three items that were on the ticket and I gave her $40 for that and my mother-in-law gave her her credit card. The other family that was there asked for to go boxes and we asked for some as well she later comes back and she only has three boxes with no bags so we reminded her that we needed boxes to go as well as bags to. So then she comes back with my mother-in-law‘s credit card but not my change and she walks away when the waitress comes by I stopped her and asked her where is my change. She said let me go speak to my manager at this point I was annoyed so I told my mother-in-law let’s go speak to the manager. When we got to the manager we explain to him what we needed to be done so he can fix it, took about 15 minutes for it to get fixed but we appreciate the fact that he took the time to fix it. I came to work today and spoke to my coworker and made her aware of my experience crazy thing was when I explain this to her and let her know who my waitres was i looked at my receipt it had “Hannah” turns out she also had terrible service with the same waitress. I would’ve asked for a different waitress. Besides that the cool was wonderful my toddler loved the show. You need to hire waitresses that know what they’re doing and not just anybody since you’re just now opening bad service means...
Read moreSoooo... the staff and the food is absolutely amazing. My friend and I came from Savannah, Ga and we went straight to Koi. I called the restaurant and Rudolph answered the phone so energetic and welcoming. It is my birthday so he treated me like the Queen that I am. When we walked in we were on the list without giving him our names, the ladies at the front knew exactly who we were. They too were so kind. Let me add that this place was busy, but I'll get to that later. When we sat down at the grill Rudolph was there and he was exactly what I imagined! He greeted my friend and I with a smile and thanked us from driving 2.5 hours to celebrate at Koi. He turned us over to JoJo, where she took our orders. She also did an excellent job. She was very quick and accurate. While eating and drinking, before Chef Boyardee came out, I'll tell you about him later... I was so pleased how the employees worked so well together. Let me add that Rudolph is the GM and he was working just as hard as his employees. I even got the pleasure off meeting the owners and they too were working to make sure everything was running smooth. Now the Chef. Chef Boyardee, and yes that has been his name for over 20 years, my friend Jess confirmed that lol, he was EVERYTHING! Very entertaining. The orders were accurate and He put on a great show. Ask for him if you can. The food was so so so good. I couldn't stop eating after I was full. Don't forget to tip the Chef. At the end, the owner came out and sung happy birthday to me and another young child and bought me a deep fried cheesecake... yes it was good too. If I could've given 100 stars I would. I'll be coming back soon with my family. Everything I ate and drank (even the water) was good absolutely not one complaint. If you read this far thank you for coming to my Ted Talk. Have a great day and book the reservation....
