I cannot recommend people use this Planet Fitness location with the current management, especially if you value cleanliness and are looking for a quality gym-going experience.
The men's bathrooms are rarely cleaned properly as well as barely maintained, having sinks and showers that don't work and are dirty. Some toilets are leaking and have not been fixed for months, as well as some dispensers inside the bathroom and on the gym floor have been broken for months. The men's showers specifically are disgusting and are rarely cleaned if ever.
When equipment and amenities are damaged or out of order it takes extremely long periods of time for them to be repaired, if repaired at all. I wouldn't recommend using any of the massage chairs as one is constantly malfunctioning and the other seems to be breaking down. They also have difficulty keeping certain drinks stocked (Core Elite Chocolate, Monster, Blue Powerade), as well as keeping the cooler full in general.
The weights and equipment are never reorganized by staff, so equipment is strewn all over the place. Members are not encouraged to return weights and equipment to where they belong either, so most just leave them wherever they last worked out. A majority of the time if you leave something in one location leaned against a wall or somewhere random, it'll still be there the next day.
It seems like management doesn't keep track of the cleanliness of the gym floor or bathrooms until it becomes too big of a problem to ignore. There seems to be no consistent cleaning schedule in place, as a majority of days I can find paper towels, water bottles, and other trash in the same place it was the previous day, just like the equipment.

Read moreI have no complaints about the gym itself. This location was always clean when I visited. The staff was usually quite pleasant. But what I DID find distasteful was PF's billing practice of continuing to bill a member AFTER they've canceled. I was careful to cancel my membership on/before the date of the month that they require in order to avoid charges for the following month. They STILL billed me again anyway...and may have kept billing me. But because of all the reviews I've read about this practice, I wasn't altogether surprised. Nor was I about to put up with it.
I didn't even bother calling the gym...wasn't even about to go through the rigmarole that I read so many others going through with these gyms and their greed. I nicely and quietly gathered my proof of the date of my cancellation, along with THEIR written terms and requirements for cancellation and proof of the STOLEN money for the unjustified billing. I took it into my credit union. In a matter of minutes, the banking specialist reversed the charge and credited the funds back to my account. BOO-YAH! I'm sure the PF accounting sumbiches were just giddy to find a chargeback for the membership that no longer existed. You gotta be several steps ahead of these companies!
Lesson to PF: For the love of God, you're already making money hand over fist on all the people who join but never workout! (Y'all do realize the 'inactive' members are the bread and butter of these fitness centers, right?) PF, is it REALLY necessary to employ these deceptive billing practices to keep bilking money from members who've already canceled??? SHEESH!!!!

Read moreBelieve me when I tell you....this the best Planet Fitness you will ever walk in to.... guaranteed. My job requires me to travel at times so I am always looking for a PF on the road. I became a member of the location on Bobby Jones location after moving to Augusta in July of 2015. It was close, spotless and had just opened so I did attribute the "sparkle" to being brand new. I can tell you it has remained the same to date. Even so, I didn't fully appreciate my gym until the first time I sought out another when away. I was shocked. Completely aghast. I expected the same level of efficiencey with friendly courteous staff, cleanliness and an adequate number of maintained machinery but.... It has been a daunting task. Completely polar opposite on a few occasions down to refreshment costs sometimes being doubled.
The Bobby Jones PF has spoiled me. Skylar and his staff continue to go out of the way to accommodate me and make things more comfortable for my handicap (age, weight and various other ailments....lol) and I know for a fact this level of efficiencey exists NO WHERE else that I have experienced. We are a mix from all walks of life at my gym but I can tell you....everyone there has only one thing in mind and that is to màke a change in their lives getting about the business OF it and I just gotta say, "They have our backs at this Planet Fitness". ...
