Buyer Beware!!
TLDR SUMMARY: If you get something "scratch and dent", take a pic of the serial number and call the manufacturer to get any return/damage history on appliance. Dave's may claim it is discounted for cosmetic issues and not disclose other issues/previous repairs. Also, they offer poor customer service.
Overall I would recommend someone like Howards Appliance. I purchased a BOSCH gas stove range (the same week that I ordered the fridge from Dave's) that was 'scratch and dent' and 50% off. Howard's delivered and installed next day, very professional, and great service along the way. Obsessed with my new range is an understatement.
FULL STORY: I purchased a "scratch and dent" refrigerator from Dave's, which they claimed was discounted solely due to cosmetic issues. The fridge was delivered on 5/27, but I immediately noticed temperature setting problems. When I reached out for assistance, I was dismissed and told to watch YouTube videos. I thought this was a little rude, but figure that's okay...I am perfectly capable of doing that. After realizing the issue was not just a setting, I officially reported it. I was again dismissed and told they would not look into it and that I needed to file a warranty claim with the manufacturer. I expected them to be a little more engaged in determining the issue since it was so recently delivered. But again, I thought that's okay....that's what the warranty is for.
It's taken four weeks to diagnose the problem with Samsung’s third-party servicer, during which I learned the appliance had a history of warranty claims and had been returned. This prior repair history was not disclosed to me at the time of purchase, which seems a bit misleading/deceptive. Scratch and dent are different from used/repaired/returned. Dave's indicated that it was only discounted for cosmetic scratch and dent.
If Samsung deems the fridge unrepairable, I may receive a refund, but I will still incur costs for delivery, installation, and spoiled food during this month-long wait (4 weeks and counting, I have another technician appoint scheduled a week from today).
Between poor customer service, questionable product quality, and misleading sales practices, I cannot recommend Dave's. Consider spending a bit more elsewhere for a better experience and reliable products.
Update: The fridge was delivered from Dave's May 27th. I officially filed the warranty claim June 6th and FINALLY got the replacement delivered August 8th.
All is well that ends well - but I won't be shopping Dave's anymore. There are lots of other discount places in Augusta to...
Read moreI will start by saying I have tried really hard to be patient, understanding, and Not make a review, but at this point, I feel I have no choice.
I purchased a Dacor panel ready refrigerator. We were told at time of purchase that any issues would be covered under manufacturer warranty. We had the fridge delivered, we paid extra to our cabinet maker to make the panels (brand new house) we moved in to realize this $5k refrigerator (not including cost of cabinet panels) has an ice maker that will not make ice unless you press the test button (to which it will then make 4 cubes). We are going on week 6 of this ordeal. When I first called, they told me to contact Dacor. I did. I had to wait almost a week to get an updated reciept that Dacor would accept showing delivery date. Then, Dacor tells me that they will not cover it due to Dave’s Appliance NOT being an authorized dealer. I call Dave’s Appliance. They supposedly spend the next week contacting Dacor. The whole time, I’m having to call daily to get updates and remind them because they will not call you back. Dave’s, does not care. Anyway, they finally tell me that they are going to give me a warranty through their 3rd party warranty company and it’s better than the manufacturer. Great. We spend another week (with daily calls) getting that set up. Get to week 3 or maybe 4 at this point. I try to file a claim with the 3rd party warranty company. They tell me they won’t cover it due to it still being covered under manufacturer warranty. I call Dave’s back. They then spend the next week supposedly (again almost daily calls from me to check in) getting Dacor to send an email confirmation that they wouldn’t cover it under manufacturer warranty. A week to week and a half later, Dave’s finally gets that. I’m like Great, let me go file a claim with the 3rd party now. So, I try again. Still, not covered due to manufacturer warranty. I email Dave’s. No response back. Call today, no answer. They may be screening my calls at this point. Who knows. 5 weeks later, I still have a $5k fridge that I have to go buy bagged ice for because I can only get 4 cubes at a time when I press the test button. I have a full time job. I don’t have the time, energy, or patience to call and try to get this figured out DAILY for 5-6 WEEKS straight.
Be careful from buying here guys. You may end up with appliances that work, you may end up with appliances that don’t, but one thing is for certain, if you end up with an issue, Dave’s has ZERO sense of urgency in getting it corrected and will NOT...
