Poor review because I felt dehumanized when I was pressured to agree to a treatment I felt uncomfortable and unsure about - this I made clear. I have a background in biomedical engineering - with a focus on immunology so I know more than I think the average person does on certain biorelated topics.
I came to the clinic for a very mild case of ezcema - a patch no larger than the size of a quarter. I tried a few creams that did not do as well as I had wanted them to (I have had mild ezcema in the past and have had creams that worked super well). Once I reported that the creams weren't working I was told I could switch to a daily pill (after being told at the last session there were more creams I could try) OR I could do dupixent which is an injection you have to get every two weeks. The doctor made it sound like dupixent was really the only thing that would help and she seemed strangely eager and insistent that I go this route even after I explained my discomfort and asked for different options.
Alarm bells were going off in my head because this treatment seemed very drastic for what I was experiencing and it was strange that she told me that this drug was specifically made for exactly what I had- which sounded too good to be true and frankly ridiculous. Why would I want to inject myself with something every two weeks that has direct interplay with my immune system? If I want to go out and get I live vaccine I should be able to. I am not a person who needs to be on a drug that would make that a risky situation. For a quarter sized patch of skin????????
In the end I said yes because I felt very awkward and wanted to leave. When I got home I called a friend that works in a dermatology clinic and told her what had happened and she said that Dupixent is a last resort and she was appalled that they tried to get me on it- not that it would cause me any harm but that it was pretty gross and that she would bet that they are in dupixent's pocket.
I'm not here to make anyone look bad but I just want this to be a warning because I felt very icky and disheartened that a medical profession would do that. Being taught to be an engineer I was taught that I am meant to be a servant of the people and only work to create things for their greater good. I feel like the same should be true of doctors.
My derm friend said she has a cream that might do the trick for me so I am grateful for...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI came in and discussed a treatment plan with the medical professional. After trying what the medical professional suggested for 10 months, I was now regressing and extremely worse. At my last appointment, the medical professional swayed from our original treatment plan and decided to deny my request. Thatās her right and I decided to take my business elsewhere. (Which is highly suggest Southern Dermatology!) after my last visit, I was then billed by the office. Itās worth noting: I did not hit my cap, double checked with my insurnace, and I have two insurance companies. I call the office and have to leave a message only for the billing manager call me who has the worst customer service. There is a reason she is not on the phones on a daily basis and it should be kept that way. She tried to tell me they did bill my insurances, which they did not. And then she suddenly tried to tell me itās for a sample they gave me 10 months prior, which in fact had already been paid for. I asked for a call back so I could make a payment only for me to tell me no, she has too many customers and is too busy so she canāt call me back. I go to get ready to make a payment⦠and she hangs up on me. I call her back and asked why she hung up on meā¦. She states, ā I did say bye!ā We will have to agree to disagree about the level of care I received from the medical professional but the staff is the worst! I would never come back to this office knowing they just want money and donāt want to try to actually help...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreReferred by Piedmont Urgent Care same day your office called for an appt on Friday. Only to be told insurance authorization is my problem to coordinate, I cannot do it but must get the Doctor at Piedmont Urgent Care to do it????There will be no appt made until they have it. I called Urgent care only to be told.....they don't do that. So I call back and was told if I don't know what kind of insurance I have she can scan my DoD ID Benefits #. Not the issue. I know what I have. Then she tells me to go to Fort Gordon to get authorization. If I go there I might as well request to be seen there?? I cannot be the first Tricare patient you ever had?? Then she goes to the internet to read about Tricare and then she tells me the Insurance clerk is off until Tues??? So who is she and why is she calling me if she doesn't know the process?? I hang up telling her this shouldn't be this hard and I will handle this on my own. Then come Monday same person calls me from your office, again clueless telling me they have a referral and what š³ type of insurance do I have??? Wow, totally clueless. I cannot get past the run around to see a Doctor. Totally unprofessional and unnecessary to go around in circles with your office staff TWICE. Who obviously didn't take notes from our Friday ridiculous conversation!! I will find someone easier to navigate that cares about new business and taking care of the patient or I will go to Fort Gordon as your...
