Giant Food — Local services in North Bethesda

The store seems clean and decently stocked. Some employees offered to help while I was shopping, unprompted.

With that said, I would like to echo a similar post about being treated extremely rudely at checkout. With 3-4 empty kiosks, the cashier insisted she check my items in the self checkout line. I’m particular about how the items I purchase are bagged. I asked four times throughout the process for her to let me use the lane as intended. There was nothing I needed her to fix or to help me in any way with my transaction up until this point. I wanted and needed no assistance. This person proceeded to scan items incorrectly and put her hands all over my personal belongings. When I pressed a little more as to why I couldn’t do this myself like I wanted, she told me it was faster this way, which I told her wasn’t a concern to me, and she then said she didn’t want to keep having to come back over, which again, she never had to do in the first place. Don't shop here if you like natural foods or have a special diet or any food intolerance. Example, my husband just went out to get hot dog buns because I forgot them. Clearly, all my fault😮‍💨

He came home with brioche buns which contained dairy and mono and diglycergrides random "natural flavors", concentrated butter and 6 grams of sugar. We both just stared at them like, we don't eat this.

This location is great for non-food items like toothpaste.

If you shop organic or non-gmo, lactose, gluten-free, paleo, or vegan, just keep driving. The amount of time you spend looking for a single item is the same amount of time it takes to go to another store that regularly stocks it. This location may not have enough cashiers either. The final time I went here, I had to put the food back because they had 1 person working, and self-checkout was closed. They simply need to do better.

As soon as you come in the store, rotten cantaloupe. I went to pick out some plums, they’re all mushy. On to organic bananas, over ripe. Plenty of shower gel and shampoo, but where is all the lotion? Went to check out and their system was down. It rejected my card so, I checked my bank account and the transaction went through, but the employees told me their system did not process the payment after I showed them the statement in my account. They suggested that I make a second payment. When that didn’t work, they told me to go get cash. I heard bad things about Giant as a new resident to this state but, I found out the hard way.
