Talbots — Local services in North Brunswick Township

The team on staff on the day of my visit were not helpful, friendly or knowledgeable. When I entered the store, there were but a handful of customers. While store staff could be seen shuffling through inventory, not one looked up to offer a greeting. I spent more than a half hour trying on various items. No matter how many times I left the fitting room, in various states of undress, to obtain different sizes, not one of the employees offered assistance. The worst part of the experience came when I was ready to pay. The store had a promotion going that provided for 30% off all tops and I had a mailed coupon for 40% off one full-priced item. (I was looking to purchase a full priced pair of pants and a sweater). I presented the staff with my coupon but was told I was not eligible for the discount. The manager was brought into the dispute and she reiterated that I did not hold a qualifying account with the store and that only certain Talbots customers paying with their premier credit cards were eligible for the discount. I left the store. When I got home, I went to Talbots.com, ordered the same items and received the Discounts without any question. It was bad enough being treated like I somehow wasn’t a worthy customer but it was worse knowing that the staff doesn’t even know what promotions the company is offering. My wife enjoyed browsing around on her 1st visit to this store. She especially liked the petite section. Two negatives, however. First, it was quite difficult to get into the shopping center. Traffic patterns in the area made entry hard from US 130 northbound. Even with GPS, it was not clear or easy. 2nd, their sale signs were misleading and unclear. Even the clerk on duty had to look up the scanner code in the computer because she wasn't sure what the sign said either--which items were on sale and which...
