I walked in to Aero Tech with the express purpose of buying an inexpensive (under $200) quad copter for my friend who is so ham handed, he can't seem to get a grasp on flying a single rotor heli.
The sign on the front said Drone headquarters or something like that. Inside, there was a decent display inside so I started to look at the boxes, trying to decide which one (more likely two) to buy. There were two men and a young girl behind the counter. One man was just chatting with someone and the other was ringing up a sale. The guy at the register was done and i expected him to approach me to help. At one point, I even walked up to the counter with a box and started reading it. At no time did anyone attempt to approach me. The register guy just stood there and the other one kept on just chatting. I stood at the counter for about five minutes. I returned to the display up front and looked at the others. I even took a quad hanging on a hook down and examined it. More minutes went by so I walked out of the store.
As a large business owner with 125 locations in the US, Ireland and the UK, I would have cleaned house, fired everyone and started over. The sad part of this story is that i suspected the guy who was talking was the owner who must either be doing this for a hobby because he's independently wealthy or just plain stupid and clueless as to how to run a business.
Bottom line... I was ready to buy but, they certainly lost a sale of two quads at around $170.00 each.
Perhaps I should have asked for some service but, that should not be necessary in any retail establishment. Just to put things in the proper context, I already own a Phantom one, A Phantom two and I just purchased a Phantom 4 ($1,400), so I know my quads.
I'm going to buy two, just for play, inexpensive quadcopters to fool around with when I'm visiting the area. However, I will buy them as soon as I meet a salesman. Unfortunately, Aero Tech has none that I could...
Read moreI absolutely love this shop.
My dad took me here back in the late 90's to get my first real RC monster truck, a Traxxas Stampede.
It is now more than two decades later and I have a son who I take their regularly. The manager has been there for since my dad took me there.
They are very knowledgeable and have great not only a great selection of vehicles from a number of top brands, but they almost always have the replacement parts for all of those vehicles. I have only had once instance where they didn't have a part I needed and it was actually more of a case that I wanted to replace all 4 axles and they just had 2 in stock. They got the other two in for me in a few days and I was back in business.
Their pricing is actually shockingly low in my opinion. I am a guy who shops a lot online for other things because it is normally cheaper. Not with this shop. I just bought a Traxxas TRX-4 and Axial SCX10 ii and they were both $50-$75 cheaper than I could find anywhere else. Their parts prices are all very in line with prices you would find at the big box stores as well.
I am so happy we have such a great store locally that I can go...
Read moreOverpriced merchandise, store was dated and dirty. The staff wasn't very friendly, enthusiastic or helpful hence the one star rating. I entered with the intent of buying an rc plane but Aerotech lost a sale due to their unfriendly, rude, and incompetent employees. I felt unwelcomed the entire time. I'm all for supporting small local businesses but if this owner doesn't re-evaluate his staff and update his store they will be absolutely shut down by internet based companies very soon. Many people I've talked to feel similarly about the unhelpful and rude staff. Aerotech loses tons of potential revenue each year due to their bad employees and terrible business practices. I'm willing to pay a small markup for good customer service and helpful enthusiastic employees to help small local businesses but Aerotech definitely lost me...
