Laura's Candy & Nuts — Local services in North Canton

I headed over here as I needed some mixed nuts for a gift as well as wanting to see what else they had in the store. It's been years since I've gone in here.

Overall, a wonderful selection of Heggy's chocolates and nuts. I found exactly what i was looking for. However, I found the staff to be quite rude the minute we walked in. There was maybe four or five total people including myself in the store. The minute i opened the door they say "You need to take a number!". I did not want to take a number yet as I wanted to browse and know what i wanted before i wasted anyone's time, however they kept getting very pushy about grabbing a number. When i was finally ready the lady that helped me very hesitantly assisted me even though i didn't have a number. I also found it incredibly confusing that they did not have self service bags or boxes, it was all handled with "scoops" that you had to be given by staff. I didn't really know how much chocolate i wanted, i just had somewhat of a concept. It's not a huge deal, but it would be a detractor from me coming into the store for sure.

One other small detail, i noticed they have a very prominent "NO FREE SAMPLES" sign on the the counter. I don't think i've ever been to a candy store not willing to sample their merchandise. There's no way it costs that much to do.

At the end of the day, i like supporting small business but what a strange interaction. Some people don't want to feel the obligation to interact with the sales person until they've made their decisions. I just did not feel like my presence was welcome...

Love the chocolates, hate the service so much I’d rather drive to Heggy’s to get my chocolates. Walked in as only customer in the place and the three workers there didn’t say anything or look up. A ‘be right with you’ might have been nice if they were busy. Then got asked what I wanted. Um, some candy. You have to wait till they hand you a scoop which is my biggest beef here. If it’s busy, you can’t start picking out your selections. You have to wait till they are done with everyone else before you can even get started. Most of the workers, when they aren’t ignoring you are pretty surly. One time I had a super sweet person who knew what customer svc was. The rest are a pain to deal with. I’m not asking for someone to fawn over me and feed me grapes, and I hate when sales people hover over me, but I’m really surprised this place is still in business. Please give that nice lady all the hours she wants to work. And have her train all the workers. She was a breath of fresh air compared to...

I had went in and asked for a sample of pecans because the last time I was here, they tasted as if they were sitting out for a WHILE. I was charged $0.13 for one pecan!!!! They don’t give out samples to be able to tell how fresh the product is. I didn’t taste the pecans until I got home that day, or I wouldn’t have bought them!!! When you go around the holidays, the nuts are fresh, because they go through them- but any other time, DONT GO, unless you like old...
