This is the second time I have gone to the Kayak Centre to buy a kayak. The first time was 20 years ago and I got a wonderful kayak then, which I loved! But I was looking to downsize now and so of course went back to the Kayak Centre and had as usual a fantastic experience/fantastic customer service experience. John helped me through the whole process, as did some other employees at the store and then also down at the waterfront for my demo. That is one of the many things I love about the Kayak Centre is that you can take it in the water, whichever kayaks you want to try, and see which 1 works best for you. Again, I cannot say enough about how wonderful John was during this whole process! And I additionally purchased a Thule Hullivator Pro rack which Daryl installed for me on my Rav4. She also was just fantastic, and was very patient in teaching me how to use it with my kayak once it was installed. She worked so hard getting that on for me and it was truly appreciated! I cannot rave enough about how wonderful the Kayak Centre is, and how wonderful the staff is! Great selection of kayaks to choose from, and the customer service is exceptional! I could go on and on more about the great staff, but hopefully you...

My girlfriend and I did a Sunset Paddle kayak rental/guided tour out of the Charlestown location. The website and info sheets go into much detail about what to wear and what to bring. Don't wear cotton shirts, bring tethers for your sunglasses, etc, etc,.

No mention of bug spray. I thought maybe because we are on salt water, biting insects might not be an issue. The paddle started out well, although we had only one guide where they usually have two. Someone called in sick is what we were told.

Once the sun went down, everyone in our group of about 15 kayakers got bit by gnatty little bugs, as well as mosquitos. It was horrible for all. The issue was made worse by the fact that the guide was bringing up the rear, rather than leading the group. We were rushing to get back to the building and escape the onslaught of the insect attack, but in the darkness, we got bottled up in a cove and had to backtrack. We are covered in bites-it looks like hives up and down our arms, ankles, and feet. What could have been a good time was ruined by the omission of a strong DEET based repellant.

I strongly suggest that the Kayak Centre adds the recommendation for bug repellant to the list of...

even though I have a little bit of trouble finding out where you actually pick up your kayak I had a fantastic time at this place my kids ran around looking at all the kayaks thinking that we were going to pick one out and buy it and take it home. But they're six years old and they don't know anything. So we walked all the way down the street to where the kayaks work and I'll tell you something it was a nice little area you can take a left take a right and then you can go pretty far out with those kayaks. My son got a little freaked out thinking we were going to get attacked by sharks. But the second I gave him the or he started paddling around and feeling like a boss. My daughter she also had a fantastic time when she sat in the middle and got to do the paddling. I'll such a good time and I'm never really had a chance to do kayaking in a very long time. So to take my two kids out there and they have a place that had the types of kayaks you need such a good day such a such a good place I definitely...

Overall we had a really good time renting a tandem kayak. The booking wasn’t very straight forward so we did have some messing around. Picked up on of their leaflets but it doesn’t say you need to book online. We arrived at the shop, r there is a sign on the shop saying go to a different place for rentals. We went there and it was empty, they got had just left. My husband went back to the shop, the guy then came back but said we both needed to go to the shop or book online and sign the waiver. There is also no parking where you enter the water so we also had to move the cars So after many walks up and down the street we managed to get on the water. Which was then lovely. Very flat so easy to paddle, small marsh area one way and then in to the harbour the other way going out to some islands you can stop at. We had a private beach and watched the boats go by.

This is a review of The Kayak Centre's RENTAL service. Our recent experience was delightful. [We rented Hobie Mirage Eclipse Pedalboards -- that's a stand up paddleboard driven by a pedal mechanism, rather than an oar. Steering is via a rudder, controlled by grips on the handlebars. The motion is similar to an elliptical trainer or StairMaster. We found them to be easy to mount, stable, responsive, maneuverable, and -- compared to a traditional SUP -- fast ! ] The dockside personnel were friendly, patient, and informative, giving us the quick lesson needed to use the Hobies, and pointing out things to see in Wickford Harbor. We spent two pleasant hours on the water. A nice workout. Would rent from The Kayak Centre again.

Shout out to Matt! I'm a first time kayak owner and today Matt helped me learn how to put on my roof rack, wheel up the kayak and strap it down. At 60 years old, this brand new hobby is in part to help me regain some strength I've lost so while I'm super excited, I was a little nervous. Matt was so patient and took his time with me. I loaded the kayak, drove to the beach, got it and myself in the water and had a great time! Thank you Matt. Also to the sweet young women who rang me up, thank you for your help. So grateful to all for making my first time kayak a wonderful experience!
