Ray's is a very popular bakery known for their specialty Haitian cakes. It's denser than typical cake but still moist and flavored with rum. I prefer Haitian cake over other types of cake. The icing, which has a hint of almond, just fits my flavor preference more than others.
Have been a customer of Ray's for several years. A few years ago, once I found out they also sell cupcakes, I was coming a lil too often. Had to cut back on the visits! But when I am looking to get a cake for special occasions, I certainly have Ray's on the list.
My favorite thing about Ray's is that even if you walk in, you can buy a ready to go cake, right on the spot. So if you're on the way to a party, you can stop in and get the . The only time this hasn't worked for me is when I just miss their operating hours. Once the door is locked, game over.
For the most part, it's no line, no wait. Service is straight to the point - not friendly, not rude, just a "get your transaction done and go" kinda vibe. The location is walk-in with no seating. Read moreTerrible experience. I was referred to this bakery because I wanted a nicely decorated cake for my baby shower. I went 2 months in advance and the lady at the register informed my it was too early to order. She said I should return the week of my shower. I waited until 9 days before my event and when I went I was then told custom cakes should be order 2-3 weeks in advance. I explained the prior person gave me different information, which is why I waited until 9 days before. I was instructed to send an email that day and was assured the cake person would call me the following morning. Never received the call, so I called and was told she was not in. The following day I notice I received an email from her. I responded to her question. Now they close for 2 days. 3 days later after I called again I finally get a call back and they quote me nearly $500 for a 2 tier cake with a bow. Nothing special. Not even the decor I wanted. This is the most ridiculous thing I ever encountered....
Read moreI do not recommend this place for cakes! The owners daughter Judy was very rude to me and lack compassion and customer service! She was very sarcastic while I was trying to tell her that the cake I previously received was burned on the bottom and the cake wasn’t baked fresh. Judy had the audacity to ask if I wanted to work for the bakery because she needed staff. (I complained about how rude the front staff was to be over the phone, and her answer was if I want the customer service to be better than I should apply! I told her she couldn’t even afford to pay me and I would never be working there because of how they treat their customers. I DO NOT RECOMMEND and I will never go back. I will never...
