Michaels — Local services in North Miami

I usually enjoy shopping at Michael’s. The store is clean, well-organized, and offers a wide variety of items for arts, crafts, home décor, and more. The staff is generally friendly and helpful, which makes for a pleasant shopping experience.

However, I’m giving this location three stars due to a disappointing interaction during a recent return. I came in to return a Stanley water bottle because I noticed the top cover was slightly broken. While the return itself was straightforward, the manager on duty—Charlie—approached the situation in a way that felt accusatory. She questioned whether I had purchased the bottle in that condition, implying that I may have damaged it myself.

I was honestly shocked by this response, especially coming from someone in a managerial position. Customer service—especially at the management level—should be handled with professionalism and respect. I hope corporate takes note of this and ensures that appropriate customer service training is provided, particularly to those in leadership roles.

Overall, this store has a lot going for it, but my experience was tarnished by this one unfortunate...

Sorry...this store is very close to me, but I'll make the drive to the Hobby Lobby on the Miami River, that I find so much better in every way. This is a nice new Michael's with typical Michael's stuff. For me it will be emergency use only, and it will be nice to have it closeby for some very basic craft use., but even so....it was out of things like super glue gel, and packages of basic sewing needles and the knitting needle selection was terrible. I've gone three times to see how it is progressing.I bought some ribbon after Christmas. One day there were very nice men in the frame department, but most times can't find anybody to ask about anything, and everytime a LONG, LONG wait at checkout. (Nice checkers though.) During my first visit ,upon entry I was greeted by Ms.Nadine . and once it was time to check out she prompted me to the self check out and even assisted me with using the kiosk . I really appreciated the fact that she attended all the customers with respect and had patience for each individual. I say that because I know working in customer service can be overwhelming at times , especially for one person but she does her thing and I witnessed it again the following day I went back to the store for a return and received the same treatment . I expressed my gratitude towards her because although it her job , it’s rare that you get genuine people in customer service willing to help and not make it seem like the customer is bugging them etc. thank you Ms.Nadine for making my shopping experience a pleasant one .
