Costco Tire Service Center — Local services in North Plainfield

If I could give the Costco Tire Center in North Plainfield 0 stars, I would. My experience was absolutely horrible. I arrived at 10am. as soon as they opened, knowing I didn’t have an appointment and would need to wait. They agreed to take my car, so I left it there and had my dad drive me home.

Less than an hour later, the staff member called to say one of my lug nut bolts was on too tight and would likely break if they tried to remove it. I asked them to attempt it by hand and to be careful. Five minutes later, they called back to say it was broken. Frustrated but with no other choice, I agreed to pick up my car to have it checked. My father, who has experience in mechanics, inspected the lug nuts and had no issues removing all four tires himself with ease.

I returned to the tire center, and the same staff member agreed to continue the service. By this point, it was around 3pm. They told me it might not be done until 6pm, which I was fine with. However, as the evening went on, I received no updates. I tried calling multiple times, but no one answered. Finally, I decided to drive over with my dad, only to get a call as I arrived saying my car was ready—though another lug nut had broken.

When I picked up my car, I thanked the same staff member out of kindness for staying late to finish the job. Without even looking at me, he stuck his hand out to give me the keys and walked away.

This was, by far, the worst customer service experience I’ve ever had. It’s embarrassing to think I used to recommend this location to others. I will never return and cannot stress enough how disappointed I am with their lack of professionalism and care.

(Forgot to mention: I also asked before purchasing if I could keep a single tire incase of an emergency as it was fairly new, and it wasn’t given back to me. I paid over $200 for that tire and it’s...

My experience with Costco Tire was extremely disappointing. First, I had an appointment to install four tires, but the installation took a frustrating 4 hours, causing me to miss my appointment. The staff's attitude was quite unpleasant throughout the process.

Later, I had another issue with my car, which had two nail holes in one tire. Despite a repair attempt, I still felt the need for a new tire. I called the store and was informed that they had the tire in stock, and no appointment was needed. So, I drove my car to the North Plainfield store. However, my experience there was far from pleasant.

The employee, an older gentleman, was unhelpful and impatient. He inquired about "pots" for the tire replacement, assuming I knew what that meant since I drove a Tesla. I was puzzled as to what he meant and, because of this, he refused to help me, stating that I should know about these "pots." It was frustrating, as all I needed was a tire replacement, and it seemed unreasonable to expect me to know about these "pots."

When I asked if any nearby Costco stores had both the tire and the necessary "pots," he told me there was one two hours away that had them. I was barely able to reach their store, and I found it unreasonable to expect me to drive another two hours. The whole interaction left me feeling that the employee was unkind and unhelpful. My advice would be to stay away from this Costco Tire location, as the level of service does not match the standard of service I expected...
