I'm a bit reluctant to write this review but I feel like folks might want to know about the experience I had with RFCellcom and Rick. I'll start by saying that Rick is a super nice guy, is very responsive to your calls, and will likely be able to fix your machine. He gets a star for each one of those things. There were a few big issues I had though. I dropped my computer off on a Sunday because it was not booting up despite my attempts to reinstall Windows on the HD. I was told I could come get it back Tuesday and it would cost $150 for the a new drive and clean install of windows. I said ok and asked Rick to call me if it was going to be more expensive. I had not heard from him all day Monday so gave him a call that afternoon and he told me it was going to be a day or so late because of some stuff that he had to deal with. No problem at all I understand life happens. So on Wednesday I ended up hearing from him saying it was ready to be picked up but would cost $175 not $150 because he didn't have any smaller drives to use. This was when I first became a bit upset because I had asked for a call BEFORE any work was to be done that would cost more than what he originally quoted. After all it really isn't the fault of the customer that the parts you said you had are not in stock. I was in a financial pinch and really needed the computer back for some work so I didn't have much choice after waiting the extra day anyway. I asked Rick to try and work with me and keep the $150 price because it had not only been a day late but also ended up being more then we originally discussed. He said he couldn't do that so I ended up heading over to pick up the computer for $175. When I got there he had the bad hard drive out of the computer and the new one installed with my computer working, which I was grateful for. I was little bummed that the drive he deemed bad had tons of pictures on it, and he offered to try and recover some of the pictures for an additional $40. I said I couldn't do that because the extra money on the current repairs had me all tapped out. Anyway I took the "bad" drive home and put it into another machine and it worked perfectly fine...I'm not saying Rick was trying to take my money on purpose or anything, like I said he seems like a nice and genuine guy, but I would caution folks on just paying somebody to do everything. Should I have tried to fix the computer myself? Probably yea, but I wouldn't say I am extremely tech savvy. I do know that the drive he installed is online for around $40, and the time to install a drive and Windows really isn't that much time at all. Is $175 on par with other computer repairs shops for the work he did? I guess so but really don't know. I didn't feel like he was very competitive with his pricing though. On top of all this he did not provide a receipt because it would have costed me extra $$ in sales tax. I didn't know this before I got there to pick up the machine. Anyway would I recommend Rick if you need your computer fixed? If you need a computer fixed he will do it, but for me I probably can't go back now just because of these issues I had. It's a real shame too because I wanted Rick to be my "go to" guy here in NR. A nice guy though with some responsive service, but some disappointing issues have me looking for another shop for repairs...it's a shame too because he is in a great location and very personable. These might seem like minor issues to some people but to me accommodating customers in small ways is what makes your business stand out and keeps people...
Read moreI was in very desperate need of a phone repair for my iPhone 15. My back glass was shattered, my speaker’s volume was so low that I could hardly hear any noise that was playing, and the phone kept shutting off at random, even when the battery was well-charged. I knew that if I took it to the Apple Store, they would charge me $500-$600 dollars to repair it, or even worse, tell me to buy a new one. I wanted to just wait it out until my phone was renewed, but I wasn’t due for another phone for like another 7 months and the phone was practically unusable. I found Rick’s shop by Googling “Phone repair near me”. Though my mom was skeptical about me going to a random guy’s house to get my phone fixed by him, his reviews looked great. Plus, it felt like my only option. So I went to Rick’s. Rick immediately knew the problem that I was dealing with, gathered all the parts he needed, and within a week of contacting him, he fixed my phone. And it barely even took him 30 minutes to complete the fix. If there’s anything I can say about Rick’s shop, it is that he is totally legit and will fix your phone at an amazingly fair price as well. And no, Mom, he will NOT try to kidnap you. I 100% recommend....
Read moreAwful customer service he's threatened to sue me multiple times over posting "fraudulent review" even though nothing was false but whatever. I went in to fix my ps4 thinking it was only the hdmi port. He told us 3 to 4 days. A week passes before I hear anything from him only for him to tell me the part wasn't there. He reorders the part only for it to be the wrong part has to reorder it again. Now it's been over 2 weeks. He finally gets the part and it turns out it's not just the hdmi it's the motherboard. So he tried again to fix it for like the next two weeks so now it's over a month and in the end no success. I spend more money waiting, I could have just bought a new game. I changed my review only because I'm tired of hearing the BS. Sue me if you want nothing in this review is false. And I have freedom of speech. He was super rude and mean towards me because I didn't want to delete my review. I can't help I feel like he was unprofessional and didn't go what he said he would. Next time just say you can't fix it...
