We spent nearly $14,000 on furniture, expecting high-quality items and service. Unfortunately, the moment our order was delivered, the problems began.
A Bernhardt console (over $2,000) arrived with visible scratches and a cracked back panel. The initial “solution” offered was to have someone come over and paint the damaged area to conceal it. Unsurprisingly, this didn’t work—the crack remained obvious and continued to worsen. After escalating the issue, the store replaced the back panel, but not in the original color, compromising the aesthetic of the console.
This console was marketed as a premium Bernhardt piece. We reached out to Bernhardt directly, and their customer service was just as disappointing—unresponsive and dismissive. In fact, in response to a BBB complaint we filed, Bernhardt falsely claimed that we “refused to talk to them,” which is simply untrue. A few months later, additional chips began appearing, and we were again blamed—told we must have caused the damage ourselves.
To make matters worse, our $4,000 Bernhardt sofa has now started peeling. When reported, we were again told it must have been caused by something we did—even though the sofa is always covered, and the peeling is happening in an area that isn’t used.
The real issue here is twofold: the poor quality of the furniture sold by Bernhardt and the refusal of the store to take responsibility for the products they carry.
To be fair, Kenny was great in helping us decorate, and we appreciated his input. But the quality of the furniture and the after-sale support have been appalling.
Update 8/6: Get a “replacement cushion cover”from Bernhardt - poor flimsy piece, color doesn’t even match. Seems like a walmart piece. What am i supposed to do with it? The holes are on the front of the sofa not the base! 3 emails have been sent to Bernhardt and there is also a...
Read moreI would give this store 6 stars if I could.
I seriously cannot recommend Earla’s enough. I took my mom there today to help her pick out furniture for my parents’ new (to them) house, but she arguably didn’t even need me there, because the staff there is amazing and you get to work with them and leverage their design knowledge as an added bonus. We worked with Kenny and he’s FANTASTIC. Also, they don’t work on commission, so it’s not like other stores where you feel like you’re wading into a room of sharks, who are waiting to jump on you and upsell you haha
One of the things we loved the most about this place is that despite the fact that they actually have a fairly large selection in-store, you can order things completely custom, and it’s actually really affordable (which my mom was worried about, because when she heard “custom” she just assumed that was going to mean “expensive”).
A couple other cool things we learned about the store are it’s family owned (Earla’s apparently 97 years old and still goes in daily, but unfortunately we just missed her by the time we got there), and all their products are made in the USA. Everything seemed really high quality (Kenny explained the details & difference between their furniture/guarantees and other stores, but honestly I can’t quite recall everything he taught us - he was ridiculously knowledgeable about how everything is made on the inside and out, which was especially helpful in our selections).
I could probably spend way more time rambling about the store (I think we spent over 3 hours there, just having a blast looking at everything and designing what my mom wanted - though I’m sure other people could shop faster if that’s your goal haha). I’ll definitely be going back and recommending it whenever anyone...
Read moreThe only place to buy furniture and accessories. We’re in our 60’s and have purchased furniture many times but mostly at large furniture stores, never again only Earlas. Heather at Earlas and Kenny who have helped us replace our living and dining room bad choices with amazing new furniture. They are professional, definitely helpful in making design decisions and take the time needed to make sure you’re happy with your new choices. The best quality and prices I’ve ever found. We started out with end tables, then lamps and keep going back. Just purchased new living and dining room yesterday, so excited to get them. If you don’t find something on the floor in the colors you want, they have a wall of fabric room to choose from. I can’t say enough great things about Earlas. Just go look around you’ll go home with something unique and a quality item. No pictures of new items lamp and table...
