UPDATE as of Aug 2023 We never got a phone call from the owners. đ We were told the situation was being handed over to them.
We were told weâd get reimbursement for the vet ( he had a gash in his side that had to be treated ) and we never got it. I called and emailed again.
We finally got an email apologizing for everything and that the check had never been mailed and would be. We eventually got the check.
We would have felt so differently if we received a call with an honest open conversation. We know things happen. We are so reasonable. I even recommended we speak on the phone. It didnât happen.
Via email, the Good Dog Spot took responsibility for the inappropriate way our sweet boys injury was handled. We are still waiting to find out how he was hurt.
We never got a call.
We left our sweet one year old puppy in the care of the Northampton location last Friday. He got in the car (wouldnât jump in as he normally does but had to be put in the car) when we picked him up and he seemed less than perky. We attributed it to the fact that he had played hard all day. (He sits in the back of the car with a seat belt.) When we got home I was very concerned. I took him out of the car for a little walk in the yard and immediately saw the reason for his demeanor and his inability to get in the car. This sweet boy had a huge gash in his side. Very deep, raw and just awful đ˘ I was understandably SO upset. I called immediately and asked what happened? Why didnât anyone tell us? Was it another dog? Was it when he was put in a crate to rest? Someone had to have seen or heard something, his cry when it happened, as this was no small scratch, it was big and very deep. I was kind, respectful and hopeful that there was a huge oversight that would be corrected, if not with the person that answered the phone, with someone else. I believe in the goodness of humans even in hard scenarios.
As pet owners we understand that dogs play and things happen. Also we knew that we signed off on liability and certainly any vet fees. Thatâs not why we were upset.
The person that answered the phone was like a robot. The only question I was asked was âis there bloodâ?!?! And she said âoh, sorry that happened.â
No one called to see how our sweet boy was in the hours and days following the incident. Despite my hoping they wouldâŚ. These people LOVE animals and ours was hurt while in their care. I kept believing that someone was going to check in on our pup!!!! They never did. âšď¸
Things happen and service providers canât be held accountable, however they are responsible for the way a problem like this is dealt with after the fact and that means everything, especially when it comes to loving an animal. Caring for these creatures that are our family is a privilege and should be treated that way.
Our vet saw our pup as an emergency (which was costly as well as the Rxâs he had to be given) and we were lucky that we were able to be seen right away. We are so very sad for this experience and for the lack of heart felt compassionate service after...
Read moreI had posted the review below when our dog was much younger. Now he is a happy 14 month old, and he loves going to Good Dog Spot Day Care once a week. He gets excited when he sees us fixing his lunch. When I pull up at the building he gets even more excited! They have a small dog room so he doesn't get overwhelmed by larger dogs. In the evening he is a happy pooped pup :).
Our Cavalier puppy had major surgery when he was 3 1/2 months old and so had to wear a cone and not be around other dogs. We learned that he then missed a "critical period" for socializing with other dogs. As a Cavalier he was small and was afraid of other dogs, especially larger dogs. We enrolled him in Spots Tots, a group for puppy socialization. In his first meeting he hid behind me. Through the excellent facilitation of the group leader, Sander Leiser, he gradually started interacting with others, eventually happily bounding into the room to play with the other dogs. He has now graduated to the older Day Care program, where he is doing well at adjusting to older dogs. We have been very happy with Good Dog Spot, where they have an educated and loving approach to each dog and their needs. Taking our dog there has changed his life for the better! ...
Read moreI have had nothing but good experiences at," The Good Dog Spot" in Northampton, Massachusetts.
My young dog, Henry, was initially enrolled in puppy daycare until he graduated into the adult group. He goes there twice a week to interact with other dogs as well as people.
As a result, despite the fact that he is only a little over 1 and 1/2 years old at this time, people are amazed at how calm and gentle he is. He does not act like an undisciplined puppy. He acts like a confident, well-mannered, extremely well socialized adult dog.
I recently had to go on a trip which lasted a week. I boarded my young dog as well as a 17-year-old senior dog with dementia. I also boarded two 10-year-old cats. The staff was wonderful interacting with all of my animals and emailed me daily reports as to their health from snout to tail!
Three of my animals were on daily medications and they administered them without any difficulty. They also reported that medications were given and also how their appetites were.
Based on the aforementioned experiences, I would highly recommend," The Good Dog Spot" not only as a place to socialize your dog, but as a wonderful place with highly trained staff if daycare or...
