Read moreWaited 45 minutes in the store after ordering my bagel. The staff was very nice and all performing their duties, but it looked like they were understaffed and slammed with online orders, call in orders, and instore customers... I wish they could have been transparent about the wait time (bagel is usually the option for breakfast when you want to grab something quick), or given us an update as we waited instead of just seeing all the customers waiting without any update on why things were taking so long.
I've been to the Hadley and Easthampton location and they are always pretty decently staffed, so I just assumed the Northampton experience would be similar... But for most of my wait they had a single guy in the back working on all the food and a young woman at the cashier.... About thirty minutes into my wait another guy showed up to help the guy in the back.
I support local business and I don't think the staff working this shift were at fault, but still my advice for those in charge would be to hire some more people or at least give the customers a heads up it's going to be a 40+ minutes wait for your two bagels. In a perfect world I would avoid going to Dunkin donuts or some big company but I also can't afford to wait that long for a morning bagel sandwich... So Dunkin here I come.
I changed my star rating to a 4 star because this is a local business and I believe they should be given the bennifit of the doubt. All my previous experience were reasonable, so I don't want to give a one star review only based off one...
Read moreLiterally my last time ordering from the Northampton store. Tandem, as a chain, is usually amazing, but this is the third time I've ordered from the new Northampton shop, and never again. I'll drive out of my way to go to Easthampton.
My wife's sandwich was perfect. Mine was such a trainwreck that I couldn't finish it. I knew I was in trouble with the first bite. I got a mouthful of red onion and horseradish. It was like chewing tear-gas. My wife asked me if I was OK. I said, oh, just hit a spot of extra horseradish, no worries. I opened my wrap, removed the pile of thick-sliced raw onion, and tried for a second bite. The second bite brought me to tears. My glasses fogged up. The Horseradish was not mixed into mayonnaise, it was just piled in there. What little mayo had been present mixed with the juice from the tomato and was pouring onto my plate. I scraped out most of the horseradish and tried again, but it was too late. I love spicy food, and even I couldn't finish it.
Advice to the Northampton store: red onions are delicious, especially when pickled, but you would never sit down and take a bite out of a raw one, would you? No? OK, then, let's shave those thin, and keep the quantity reasonable. Next, Horseradish is delicious, especially when tempered with rich, creamy mayonnaise, but you would never sit down and take a bite of horseradish root, right? OK, then let's mix the HR into some mayo, and keep the proportion reasonable.
For me, it's the Easthampton shop...
