I cannot say enough good things about the incredible staff at this Stop & Shop, especially Brian and Erika, who went above and beyond to brighten my day. Brian, who works behind the seafood counter, is a precious gem. From the moment I approached the counter, his genuine smile and pleasant demeanor set a positive tone. He engaged me in polite and respectful conversation, making me feel valued as a customer. The uplifting words he shared at the end of our chat resonated with me so deeply—they’ll carry me through these tough times I’m facing.
Similarly, Erika and the cashier assisting her (whose name I, unfortunately, didn’t catch) were equally exceptional. Erika noticed that a lemon I had picked up was bruised and thoughtfully pointed it out, showing her keen attention to detail and genuine care for her customers. Her thoughtfulness so touched me that I decided to keep the lemon, a small moment that exemplified her exceptional character. Her bright, pure eyes and sweet smile made the interaction even more memorable.
Another gentleman, who spent ten minutes trying to locate ground oats for me, also deserves recognition. Although he couldn’t find the product in the end, his dedication and genuine disappointment at not being able to deliver impressed me greatly. He even involved others and used their technology to assist in the search. That level of effort far exceeded my expectations, and his warmth was truly appreciated.
Beyond the staff, the store itself is a joy to shop at. The produce is fresh, vibrant, and well-labeled, with a nice variety of organic and non-organic options to suit different preferences. The overall ambiance, created by both the team and the customers, is welcoming and warm—reflecting the kind, community-oriented spirit of Northampton.
As someone navigating a challenging time in life, the kindness and care I experienced at this Stop & Shop were a beautiful surprise. It turned what could have been an ordinary errand into the highlight of my day. This store, and the wonderful people who work there, have made a loyal customer out of me. Thank you for being a candlelight in...
Read moreOverall a pleasure to shop at . One thing that you may? Be able to help handicapped / seniors with:
The electric carts are very helpful but I have two recurring issues ; when choosing one , frequently they all show blinking green lights, which indicates that it’s being charged. But how charged is the question? Because I’m handicapped it’s difficult to hop around from cart to cart to discover which one might be the best bet, and I have often been wrong and get about halfway through the store and find that the card has run out of juice/power. The store was renovated recently to accommodate the orders to be delivered outside and when they did that they put in more AC power units to charge the carts. People who use them leave them in parking lot so they are usually being returned by employees. Not so long ago (frequently ) the carts weren’t plugged in at all to recharge, that seems to have changed. But the point is still the same: that most people have no idea which cart is the most charged/ready to go.
Secondly, the basket that’s offered for these carts does not accommodate very much . I’m wondering if anybody has done any brainstorming about this issue or maybe there’s an idea that’s already at used by others that I’m not aware of. But I do know that I use these carts 100% of the time that I’m in the store and that because they don’t allow you to buy that much, I’m forced to come back to the store more often than I would like to. Other than that, The employees are terrific overall, doing things above and beyond the call of duty. In particular the produce manager is A GEM...
Read moreThis Stop & Shop is… neglected — by whoever’s supposed to be in charge. Not only is there consistently trash scattered around the property, but the makeshift homeless encampment literally right out front is dragging the place down — tucked behind a thin line of trees next to the parking lot, like management is hoping no one will notice. Unfortunately, it’s impossible to ignore when people are using the area next to the entrance as a bathroom. (Yes, that kind of bathroom.)
Then they go straight from that spot into the store — clearly not to shop — and hang out by the entrance all day, harassing each other or bothering customers on the benches. It’s basically a live soap opera. An actual animal house.
Management seems totally indifferent. There’s zero visible effort to clean up the outside or deal with what’s obviously an ongoing issue. The inside isn’t much better — dim, outdated, and just plain depressing. Even Walmart feels more put-together than this place.
Easily the trashiest spot on King Street. I avoid it unless I have absolutely no other option. Someone needs to step up and take...
