My wife ordered an apple pie here for Thanksgiving. They said it would be ready the day before Thanksgiving after 2pm. She sent our nanny (with our kids) to pick it up the day before Thanksgiving at ~3:30pm and the worker there said they had no record of it and ignored her follow up questions and walked away. Our nanny tried to buy an apple pie, but there were none left. My wife, who was busy at the time our nanny tried to pickup the pie, later called the store, they confirmed the mistake and said the pie would be ready for pickup. But our nanny had already arrived back home and her work day was over. My wife didn't have enough spare time to waste another 30 minutes with the kids to pick up a pie that she already sent someone to pick up. The manager agreed to make things right by delivering the pie to our house. However, this promise fell flat on both the day before Thanksgiving and also the day of Thanksgiving. We held out hope, but it never happened. We were left wondering what happened. The day after Thanksgiving, the owner refunded our money, but this doesn't make up for how everything happened. Why did the worker have no record of it? Why did they refuse to answer follow-up questions? Why did the manager agree to deliver it and then never follow through? Why didn't they communicate their lack of delivery? We would've gone somewhere else for the apple pie. All around, this was a very bad experience and a simple refund doesn't make up for the wasted time, energy,...
Read moreSooo many reasons why I love this place. The produce is the best, especially the organic stuff, not ready to rot like at shop rite and you don't have to buy in bulk like at produce junction. If there's only 2 of you that's just wasteful and not cost effective. I can just buy a potato or a head of Romain. I rarely have a problem with the merchandise or produce, but on the 2 occasions that I did, in my ENTIRE life,.... I simply bought it back and Mazzeos was More than happy to give me back my money or give me another one! No problem, we just want you to be happy is their motto. Anytime they run out of something, like the bread I really like, or the Jersey strawberries, the nice lady at the deli counter just tells me to call and she saves it for me. She is the sweetest, kindest person. She made me a beautiful arrangement of strawberries for my mother who is blind with medical issues and it was the best I've seen anywhere. My mom loved it. Freshest sweetest strawberries she's ever had! The staff is kind, friendly and helpful. The produce and food is fresh. What more can...
Read moreI bought a tomato pie, supposedly fully cooked and just needing re-heating. The filling was very tasty and juicy, with a nice amount of fresh basil, but the bottom crust was totally unbaked! I mean it was raw, white, and pasty. I covered the top with foil so the cheese wouldn't burn and baked it for another half hour, but the bottom crust remained raw. I disposed of the entire bottom crust and we ate just the filling and cheese on top. And this not-very-large pie cost almost $20. I suggest that whoever prepares these tomato pies for Mazzeo's partially bake the crust before adding the filling, and then bake it as normal once the filling is poured in and topped with cheese. Then the bottom crust will have a chance of getting baked instead of...
