I have been renovating two properties of mine since Aug 2022. I have always come to this store and other Home Depot’s and been impressed with the knowledge of the staff and their willingness to help (because I am a bit overwhelmed sometimes they did convince me to get a Cc with Homedepot that has proven useful) until yesterday. I picked up a weed wacker in the garden section and the guys over there were so funny and helpful they even looked up the previous weed wacker to see if the part I was missing could be ordered. They couldn’t find it so I grabbed a Ryobe to make my life easier. I’m fine with that. Then I wandered to the paint section and was waiting (I’ll be honest not very long) but couldn’t see an associate down the isles helping anyone so far that I passed and no one was behind the desk at all. Which is okay, Last time this happened another associate was near by so they called someone to help which was great but I just didn’t see anyone else near me on the floor except those behind the cash registers in returns/customer service and I didn’t want to bother them or stop them from what they were working on, so I called out a “hello anybody home?” I wasn’t trying to be rude, I thought it was kind of funny. Since a few of the employees know me by face and we joke a bit. However, the associate Giovanna in returns/customer service area did not think it was very funny. She told me “ You don’t have to yell” in such a condescending tone as she came over. I was a little caught of guard. I tried to explain I wasn’t trying to be rude at all but from her look I just left it and asked if my account could be pulled up to see the exact color I purchased last time. She told me I could as Another associate took over I thanked Giovanna anyway to be kind and started speaking with the new associate ( I believe her name was Sheryl or Sharon) she was so helpful, knowledgeable, and kind of didn’t feel the embarrassment from Giovanna’s behavior anymore and wrote it off as a “one off” situation until I turned and caught her staring at me giving me a dirty look like something was wrong again. Ok…That wasn’t even necessary as she had made her point very very clear earlier, why carry it on? I guess I could have apologized but I didn’t think and certainly didn’t mean to offend her. I do understand sometimes we have bad days at work but I didn’t think I did anything to warrant Giovanna’s treatment of me at the time. I’m not excited about coming back to that location because I do know coming face to face with this woman again won’t be a pleasurable experience for me. I guess the best I can do is avoid her at all costs or shop elsewhere. Which is a...
Read moreI want to leave this review so that other's don't have the same issues, or can avoid them if at all possible! We ordered a dishwasher in January 2022 and got it delivered April 2022. We also paid for installation and haul-away when we ordered. It got delivered by someone they contract out; not Home Depot themselves. Please note: the people they contract out to do the install are not plumbers, so if you have anything other than metal piping under the sink they will not install it because they don't have the knowledge/tools to fix it if something breaks (don't want to be held liable). This was the 1st reason they said they would not install. The 2nd reason was they required 34 inches of space (top to bottom) which was not communicated to us prior to delivery. So not only was it not installed, they would not take the old dishwasher either. None of this information was provided to us prior to the install to check before they arrived. I called HD the same day to ask for a refund of the installation Fee (not the Haul-away fee), which they did give. They also said I had 30 days to decide if I wanted to schedule a haul-away or not. I contacted them 3 days later via text customer service and they scheduled the pick up time/date. Pick up day comes (today) and no call about pick up time-frame. I contact them again via text customer service and they indicate because we were already refunded the Haul Away fee, it can no longer be picked up and that we need to call a local appliance haul-away service. Not only were we told that we had 30 days to decide, we were also scheduled a pick up time, only to be told it's not possible. This is a complete oversight on the customer service side with misinformation everywhere. I do hope no on else...
Read moreThe Novi Michigan Home Depot that calls themselves "Your local hardware" on their website. If that were true they would have helped a good customer tonight. I went into the store at 6pm to rent a drum sander to work on a rental property across town. Unfortunately I left my current drivers license at home. I did have my two previous drivers licenses in my wallet. They refused to rent the sander to me because I did not have my current license. I had a wallet full of credit cards (home depot included) as well as a pro xtra account. I have spent over 50K at home depot this last year on my account and my contractor's accounts. I think it's bad business to send a good customer away because of a rule that doesn't make sense. They knew it was me, my drivers license number is the same, even the police have been ok with taking my expired license when pulled over. If they were REALLY "Your local hardware" they would have rented the tool to me and kept a good customer happy. Maybe Menards will treat me better? Maybe a real "local" business will.... if I can find one.
The manager was polite to me. The rental counter guy was not. He even said he could do it just this once... but then changed his mind? I understand if they were just "following the rules" but the rules didn't make any sense. They lost a rental sale and more importantly made a good customer want to spend as much money as possible at Menards.
Customer service is important. At least the manager was polite to me. I have observed some pretty awful treatment of customers in the Livonia store... but I'll save that for...
