I call the Café to setup a luncheon for my nephew’s boys club; 8 boys and 4 parents. When I called a young lady answered the phone. I asked three question.
(me) May I speak to the manager on duty? (staff) They aren’t here! (me) Do you know when they will return? (staff) Nope! (me) May I ask the managers name? (staff) Why are you asking?
She preceded to scold me over the phone, for asking the questions, then hung up on me. I was in disbelief. I called back and a different lady answered. I shared my experience with her and she responded with disrespect and attitude that was very condescending. I asked her if this is how she spoke to customers, she replied; you are not a customer. I was so incensed that I left my desk and drove up to the shop. I stood at the counter and waited until it was my turn. I was greeted by an employee, who later told me her name is was Maria and she’s the asst. manager. I introduced myself to her then we moved off to the side to talk. I explained why I came up to the café, and why I wasn’t happy with the lack of customer service. Maria didn’t seem to care, in fact she when on to suggest that my business wasn’t needed, or was I welcome. My spouse is the CFO at a company across the street from the café, we stop there in the morning to get coffee, sweets, and a breakfast sandwich. I am disappointed that the staff felt it was ok to talk down to a customer and that Maria, the assistant manager agreed with the first young lady and her handling of the calls and situation. Very disappointing, we will not be...
Read moreMy husband and I love coming to this local coffee shop to relax and drink delicious coffee drinks. But we had a strange experience the other day. He ordered one of the fall specialities the butterbeer latte with soy milk. I told the barista I’ll have the same but make mine frozen instead of hot. We get our drinks and they’re so delicious. But about half way through drinking them, I tried my husband’s hot beverage and said that his tastes like coffee and mine tastes like a milkshake. I’m looking at my drink and question if there’s even any coffee in mine because the color is all white. My husband goes up to the barista and asks “does this one have coffee in it?” And he says “no, that one doesn’t come with coffee.” I’m sitting there completely confused and honestly don’t know what to say or think… so I just spent over $7 for basically a soy milkshake with no coffee?? I ordered the same exact thing as my husband and his clearly had coffee in it. I wanted a coffee drink and felt like I was a children drinking a coffee-less drink. The barista offered to add coffee to my drink. We accepted, but I feel like the ratio to my drink was all off because I had already drank almost half.
If the frozen butterbeer latte didn’t come with coffee why wouldn’t the barista inform me? I felt stupid...
Read moreThis is hands-down one of my favorite coffee shops in metro Detroit! What started as a Caribou Coffee chain years ago was saved by a group of No.VI dads who couldn’t bear to lose their go-to coffee spot. They took it over, but let’s be real—running a food business isn’t a walk in the park.
Enter the most incredible couple who bought the place and transformed it into something truly special.
The owner, hailing from Puerto Rico where her family runs a similar business, has poured heart and soul into this spot. It’s now the coziest, most welcoming place you’ll find.
No judgmental hipster baristas here—just a genuinely kind and awesome staff who make you feel right at home. They bring their diverse backgrounds to the table, offering unique treats like Banh Mi sandwiches and Dora-Yaki alongside killer pastries.
Foodie Pro tip: If you spot quesitos or churros, grab them fast—they’re absolutely perfect pastries and sell out quick!
I’m obsessed with their in-house roasted beans, especially the espresso roast that I snag for my at-home brews.
Whether you’re popping in for a quick coffee and pastry or settling in for work or a great convo with a friend, this place is perfect. It’s a true gem that’s worth...
