China King — Restaurant in Novi

The good... The food was very hot and done on time. The staff were very attentive and got the order right. The small size wanton soup was loaded with wantons! Very filling. Prices were very reasonable for the portion sizes Very clean inside

The bad... Chicken fried rice was very bland and contained peas and carrots... no egg, no bean sprouts; just bland chicken, no seasoning, with veggies that don't belong in the dish. Some pieces of rice were mushy, others were still crunchy. Tasted like fried rice from a mall food court. Shrimp egg rolls were mostly cabbage with 1 small shrimp in each end. The sauce for the Almond Chicken was the strangest recipe that I've ever tried. Not at all what we were expecting and we weren't fans. The chicken on its own was presented as expected but pretty dry.

Yeah, its cheap, but it is definitely not good. I got the sweet and sour chicken. It had that generic yellow "fried rice" with peas and carrots in it, meats that are little, little nuggets of yuck, that super red, sweet sauce on the side. If you like this kind of yucky chinese, you will like this place. I wish I could find a GOOD chinese restaurant around Novi/Walled Lake; it seems every one around here is like this. What ever happened to big chunks of chicken, cucumbers, pineapple, peppers, etc. with sauce on it, real fried rice, and a big yummy egg roll? Places like that are in Detroit, Hamtramck, Hazel Park, but I cant find any good ones around here. Oh, well there is one: KA HING on Pontiac Trail. But, they...

So I call in an order for some of their food as I’m driving home. I pick up the food and pay for it (and the person who was at the cashier table was a little kid idk if that’s legal or not but ok). When I get home and start eating I recive a call the China king telling me that I didn’t pick up the order that I was currently eating and I told them that I had indeed picked up my order they told me that I had not and proceeded to talk and since I couldn’t understand him I hung up. After that I got a spam of calls as I ate the semi okay food I picked up and paid for which I checked to make sure I paid and saw on my bank account...
