7-Eleven — Local services in Oʻahu

My kids wanted to get their grandma a gift card to go with her Mother's Day card and flowers so this location was on the way. (Not a convenient location unless traveling westbound only, and parking lot is also weird).

Cashier said we had to pay for gift card separately (we also had snacks), and that payment for gift cards are cash only.

I never heard of this before. Maybe this cashier is a scammer and I wish we got her name. Maybe there's a special gift card machine and it was broken (???). There were no signs around the gift cards or anything that said cash only. No explanation. She said this like it was a normal rule since forever, but I know we've bought gift cards from this location before and I rarely use physical cash.

We then went to the 7-Eleven down the road at Westridge. They also said gift cards had to be paid separately from other items. However, I was able to get the gift card there like a normal human, with no weirdness or "cash...

Probably the slowest 7-11 I’ve ever been to, those employees seem like they’re learning how to use the register every time i go there it takes me like 5 minutes to cash out and half the time they end up calling the manager...
