Booked a 10:30am bus tour for my family of 4. We had just arrived on the 9:55am ferry. Next we were in line getting coffee at Back Door Donuts when Land & Wharf called me to confirm we are joining the tour. This was at 10:15am - I said yes we are joining and that I am a block away getting coffee, we would be right there. L&W gave no indication at all that I need to rush over or that my seats were at risk of being given to another group. We walked over and it was right at 10:30am when they tell me that we are late and the bus has already left with others taking our reserved seats! I understand that they need to fill the bus, but I confirmed our seats minutes before when they called. They gave no indication that we need to hurry and then blamed me for being late. I was very mad, but there was nothing that I could do as the bus already left. What ticked me off however, is the lack of simple courtesy from the L&W team - no apologies, blaming me, was poor...
Read moreJacki was our driver and guide. He was a little hard to understand as we are from the south, and well his accent was not. But after we got used to it he shared more knowledge of the area than we will ever remember. The tour does not dawdle. A 30 minute stop at the cliffs was a great chance to stretch our legs and the scenery was beautiful. Otherwise, keep your head on a swivel because the information comes fast. “On your left is this, on your right is that.” Don’t blink or you will miss it. I not complaining there is just a lot of information. The tour does provide a great base of information for you to decide what you want to go back and see if you have more time on the island. Van is comfortable. Not handicap accessible. Much better than the school bus tours we saw. It would be interesting to see if hop on hop off bus tours would work in this community. Public transit is available and convenient but I don’t think you get...
Read moreMy husband and I traveled to Cape Cod, MA for my birthday. I wanted to visit Martha’s Vineyard this n my actual day of my bday which was on n a Saturday, May 4th. We first booked an African American tour of Oaks bluff with Homegrown Tours but it was canceled due to lack of drivers that day. I was referred by them to Oak bluffs land and Wharf. At first I was very disappointed because I really looked forward to the African American tour but Troy the tour guide for Wharf land made up for my disappointment. Troy was very nice, knowledgeable about the island and very informative . Thanks Troy for turning my disappointment into a happy birthday. Kevin was a gem as well when I spoke with him on the phone. It was a pleasure meeting Kevin and Troy. This tour was awesome. Keep up the good work Troy and Kevin. ...
